{"id":788152,"date":"2026-02-25T14:03:20","date_gmt":"2026-02-25T14:03:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/788152\/"},"modified":"2026-02-25T14:03:20","modified_gmt":"2026-02-25T14:03:20","slug":"residents-of-flats-in-somerset-welcome-food-waste-collections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/788152\/","title":{"rendered":"Residents of flats in Somerset welcome food waste collections"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">There will also be new fortnightly collections for soft plastics and cartons.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">New communal wheelie bins will be issued with different coloured lids to help residents to separate their waste properly. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Councillor Richard Wilkins, who is in charge of waste services at Somerset Council, said: &#8220;People in flats have been asking to be able to do more recycling for an awful long time, this will enable them to do this. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Change is always difficult, but from my understanding, we&#8217;ve made this as easy as possible.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The changes are funded by the government&#8217;s Simpler Recycling programme.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Recycling of soft plastics will not be made mandatory until 2027. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"There will also be new fortnightly collections for soft plastics and cartons.
