The Washington Commanders will host at game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London this season, the NFL announced on Wednesday. Their opponent and the date of the game will be revealed in May, when the league releases the full 2026 schedule.<\/p>\n
The Athletic reported<\/a> in November that the Commanders would be the designated home team in their second international game in as many seasons, following their loss<\/a> to the Miami Dolphins at Madrid\u2019s Santiago Bernab\u00e9u Stadium in Week 11 last year.<\/p>\n The Jacksonville Jaguars will also play two games in London: one at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and another at Wembley Stadium, part of the Jaguars\u2019 multi-year commitment to play games in the United Kingdom. Jacksonville has played 14 regular-season games in London since 2013.<\/p>\n The Commanders\u2019 London game will come a decade after Washington first competed abroad \u2014 in London no less \u2014 and played the Cincinnati Bengals to a 27-27 tie in front of a sold-out crowd at Wembley Stadium.<\/p>\n \u201cThe NFL has obviously demonstrated that there is a market for this,\u201d Commanders president Mark Clouse said shortly after the team\u2019s return from Madrid last year. \u201c\u2026 So, I see it both as a great fan opportunity, but I also see it as a really good business opportunity for the franchise as well.\u201d<\/p>\n The NFL\u2019s push for global expansion will reach new heights this season as it stages a record nine regular-season games overseas, including three in London. The league earlier announced<\/a> that the Los Angeles Rams will host the NFL\u2019s first game in Melbourne, against the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers will also play a game in Mexico City, the Dallas Cowboys will play in Rio de Janeiro, the New Orleans Saints will host the NFL\u2019s inaugural game in Paris, the Lions will have a game in Munich<\/a> and another to-be-announced game will be played in Madrid.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s the ambition we have to be a global sport,\u201d commissioner Roger Goodell said in San Jose during the week of Super Bowl LX. \u201cBut it\u2019s also the demand we\u2019re having. We\u2019re hearing from cities that want to host these games and really want to get more American football.\u201d<\/p>\n Last season, six of the NFL\u2019s seven international games aired on NFL Network and drew an average of 6.2 million viewers, up 32 percent from the network\u2019s international slate in 2024. The Commanders\u2019 loss in Madrid was one of the network\u2019s five most-watched international games, averaging 5.9 million viewers.<\/p>\n
