{"id":788691,"date":"2026-02-25T19:46:17","date_gmt":"2026-02-25T19:46:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/788691\/"},"modified":"2026-02-25T19:46:17","modified_gmt":"2026-02-25T19:46:17","slug":"lake-district-grief-group-aims-to-help-people-through-shared-pain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/788691\/","title":{"rendered":"Lake District grief group aims to help people through shared pain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  The Griefstudio is run by Lucy Thould, 48, who is a NCPS (National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society) registered counsellor.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Ms Thould runs sessions in Crosthwaite for people dealing with grief and believes her service is a good interim option for those facing long NHS waiting lists.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Ms Thould said: &#8220;The Griefstudio was born really to honour the life of my mum who died really suddenly when I was just 21.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;I lost her and the house that we lived in and I think that kind of devastation is life changing.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;The Griefstudio was born after my clinical experience in one-to-one counselling and group.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;I began to see how incredible group work can be for healing collectively through community.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;Couple that with how many blockers there are for people to be accessing counselling, either financial or geographical, I just wanted to open up a part of business that was a pay-what-you-can grief counselling group.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;It is really focused on community &#8211; professionally led, but fostered that healing through shared experience.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Ms Thould believes her group is good place to go for people who are waiting to be referred to counselling via the NHS.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The business has been going for one year and meetings are held on Mondays at Argylls Hall.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  There are two groups with sessions from 10am to 11am and 6.30pm to 7.30pm.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  To contact Ms Thould about attending a session, you can contact her on lucytcounselling@gmail.com.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  People dealing with any kind of grief are welcome to the sessions, not just those dealing with bereavement.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Ms Thould said: &#8220;The sessions are very warm and welcoming.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;The groups are kept small so that they are not overwhelming and they are kept safe and intimate.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;Sometimes we talk, we laugh, we cry.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;Sometimes I lean into my more creative therapeutical skillset.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;We&#8217;ve done things like collages for when people don&#8217;t have the words to articulate how they are feeling.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;Some people like to sit quietly, some like to be really involved and all of that is okay.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;The main thing is that collective shared space where people are having a similar experience and they are not left alone.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;It is something very powerful when you hear other people going through the same thing as you.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Griefstudio is run by Lucy Thould, 48, who is a NCPS (National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society) registered&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":788692,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":"","_share_on_mastodon":"0"},"categories":[4317],"tags":[105,218,16,15],"class_list":["post-788691","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-mental-health","tag-health","tag-mental-health","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom"],"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@uk\/116132995630829043","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/788691","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=788691"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/788691\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/788692"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=788691"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=788691"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=788691"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
