{"id":78914,"date":"2025-05-06T10:39:06","date_gmt":"2025-05-06T10:39:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/78914\/"},"modified":"2025-05-06T10:39:06","modified_gmt":"2025-05-06T10:39:06","slug":"pop-off-michelangelo-musical-comedy-to-extend-at-the-underbelly-boulevard-in-london","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/78914\/","title":{"rendered":"Pop Off, Michelangelo! musical comedy to extend at the Underbelly Boulevard in London"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New musical comedy <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westendtheatre.com\/279485\/shows\/pop-off-michelangelo-tickets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pop Off, Michelangelo!<\/a><\/strong> is extending its London run by three weeks in the West End.<\/p>\n<p>The show is transferring to <strong>Underbelly Boulevard<\/strong> in London for a limited season following last year\u2019s successful Edinburgh Fringe season.<\/p>\n<p>Pop Off, Michelangelo! will now play from 17 May to 13 July 2025 in London.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dylan MarcAurele\u2019s<\/strong> camp, comedy musical is directed by <strong>Joe McNeice<\/strong>, and proved a hit at the 2024 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, where it received a Popcorn Award Special Mention.<\/p>\n<p>The show stars <strong>Max Eade<\/strong>\u00a0as Michelangelo, <strong>Aidan MacColl<\/strong>\u00a0as Leonardo da Vinci and <strong>Michael Marouli<\/strong>\u00a0as the Pope (pictured),\u00a0with <strong>Kurran Dhand<\/strong>\u00a0as Salai,\u00a0<strong>Aoife Haakenson<\/strong>\u00a0as Mother,\u00a0<strong>Sev Keoshgerian<\/strong>\u00a0as Italian Chef,\u00a0and <strong>Laura Sillett<\/strong>\u00a0as Savonarola.<\/p>\n<p>Understudies are <strong>Natalia Brown<\/strong> and <strong>Conn McGirr<\/strong>\u00a0(Dance Captain).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>MarcAurele and McNeice reunite to take you on a wild ride through Renaissance Italy, with this high-camp musical comedy telling the (somewhat edited) history of two of Italy\u2019s greatest artists, Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci, as they both race to create the most legendary religious masterpieces.<\/p>\n<p>Joining McNeice in the creative team are Choreographer and intimacy director Sundeep Saini; Musical supervisor &amp; orchestrations by Aron Sood; Costume Designer Emily Bestow; Lighting Designer Adam King; Video Designer PJ McEvoy; Sound Designer Ed Lewis; Casting Director Sarah-Jane Price; Assistant Choreographer\u00a0Conn McGirr; Dramaturg\u00a0Rose Oser; Production Manager\u00a0James Anderton; Set designed in collaboration between\u00a0Joe McNeice,\u00a0Emily Bestow, and\u00a0PJ McEvoy; and General Management is by\u00a0Paul Virides Productions. His theatre credits include\u00a0Aladdin\u00a0(Royal Hippodrome Theatre) and\u00a0Rishi Sunak\u2019s Doing a Musical\u00a0(Waterloo East Theatre). Dhand graduated from Brighton Academy in 2023.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Max Eade<\/strong>\u00a0reprises his role as Michelangelo, which was his stage debut. Eade graduated from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in 2024.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aoife Haakenson<\/strong>\u00a0plays Mother. Her theatre credits include\u00a0Six\u00a0(UK and international tour) and\u00a0The Crucible\u00a0(National Theatre); and for television,\u00a0Downforce.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sev Keoshgerian<\/strong>\u00a0plays Italian Chef. His theatre credits include\u00a0I Wish My Life Were Like a Musical\u00a0(UK tour),\u00a0The Rocky Horror Show\u00a0(European tour),\u00a0Little Women the Musical\u00a0(Park Theatre),\u00a0Little Miss Sunshine\u00a0(Arcola Theatre),\u00a0The Musical of Musicals (The Musical!)\u00a0(Above the Stag) and\u00a0Jack and the Beanstalk\u00a0(Corn Exchange Newbury).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aidan MacColl<\/strong>\u00a0reprises his role as Leonardo. His other theatre credits include\u00a0The Little Mermaid\u00a0(UK tour),\u00a0Jack and the Beanstalk\u00a0and\u00a0Beauty and The Beast\u00a0(Eastwood Park Theatre).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Michael Marouli\u00a0<\/strong>plays Pope. Marouli is an international drag performer, actor, host, stand-up comedian and show producer. He finished as runner-up in season five of\u00a0RuPaul\u2019s Drag Race UK\u00a0and has since toured the world as both a solo artist and with his drag group Angels of the North. He has also starred in\u00a0BobThe Drag Queen: This is Wild! World Tour\u00a0(Adelphi Theatre), and guest starred in Paramount Plus\u2019s\u00a0The Road Trip.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Laura Sillett<\/strong>\u00a0plays Savonarola.
