Marvel\u2019s Wolverine<\/a> is releasing on 15th September, but some fans are surprised by how Sony shared the news<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The announcement came suddenly on a Tuesday morning, with no new trailer, gameplay, or word of pre-order bonuses.<\/p>\n

Some conspiracy theorista believe there\u2019s a reason for this: the announcement was made to bury the recent Bluepoint closure news<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While the link seems tenuous, it\u2019s worth remembering the platform holder took a hiatus from social media<\/a> for more than 72 hours last weekend, as its accounts were attacked by frustrated fans.<\/p>\n

Similarly, it\u2019s worth remembering there was an excellent State of Play<\/strong><\/a> just a few days ago. Couldn\u2019t the news have been included somewhere in there?<\/p>\n

To be fair, the aforementioned livestream was already filled with bangers, so at some point you risk diluting the announcements. With almost 80k likes on X<\/a> (or Twitter<\/a>), it\u2019s not like the Marvel\u2019s Wolverine news went under the radar.<\/p>\n

But some fans do think there\u2019s something suspicious about all this.<\/p>\n

\u201cBro announced it randomly to make us forget about Bluepoint Games shutting down,\u201d one said<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cY\u2019all are so desperate to change the narrative,\u201d another lamented<\/a>. \u201cAre you gonna close Insomniac next?\u201d<\/p>\n

Our view? We don\u2019t think Sony is playing 4D chess here, although we do agree the way the release date was announced was unusual.<\/p>\n

With GTA 6<\/a> coming out in November, we reckon it\u2019s going to make the preceding months more mad than usual, because no one\u2019s going to want to release their game next to Rockstar\u2019s open world opus.<\/p>\n

Perhaps this was a case of Insomniac being confident in the date, and Sony wanting to put its flag in the ground as soon as possible. There are few publishers who\u2019ll want to go up against Marvel\u2019s Wolverine either, so we imagine that 15th September date will now be vacated.<\/p>\n

We\u2019d be surprised if this had anything to do with Bluepoint, though. After all, it\u2019s not like any of us are any less disappointed about that news because Wolverine now has a date, huh?<\/p>\n
