Go-Ahead, the operator of the largest zero emission bus fleet in the UK, has now put into service a total of 1,000 zero emission buses at its London operation.<\/p>\n
The 1,000th bus was charged earlier this month by Seb Dance, Deputy Mayor, Transport and Mete Coban, MBE, Deputy Mayor for Environment and Energy.<\/p>\n
These zero emission buses at Go-Ahead London are expected to cut carbon emissions by about 60,000 tonnes each year \u2013 equivalent to removing around 37,500 cars from London\u2019s roads annually.<\/p>\n
Go-Ahead London is the largest bus operator in London, running more than 2,500 buses across 170 routes, serving more than one million passengers per day.<\/p>\n
This milestone means that almost half of Go-Ahead London\u2019s routes are now served purely on zero emission buses.<\/p>\n
Go-Ahead London first introduced zero emission buses into its fleet 12 years ago and operates from several electrified depots, including one of Europe\u2019s largest in Northumberland Park.<\/p>\n
Across London, 13 of Go-Ahead London\u2019s depots now have charging points and electric buses, with plans underway to electrify its sites in Sydenham, Thamesmead and Stockwell this year.<\/p>\n
In 2025, the company invested in a new operating control centre for Go-Ahead London to boost reliability of its services.<\/p>\n
The new control centre also supports zero emission transport by providing live information on the battery range and state of charge for all electric buses.<\/p>\n
