The future of a mural dedicated to departing Liverpool FC<\/a> star Trent Alexander-Arnold has been confirmed. Yesterday, the 26-year-old announced that he will leave Liverpool when his contract expires<\/a> at the end of the season.<\/p>\n

Alexander-Arnold<\/a> has been heavily linked with a potential free transfer to Real Madrid. In his parting message he said the club had been his “whole life”. A mural celebrating his successes at the club was unveiled at the corner of Sybil Street and Anfield<\/a> Road back in 2019.<\/p>\n

The impressive three-storey image<\/a> of the Liverpool right-back was formally unveiled on August 8, 2019 when then 20-year-old <\/a>Alexander-Arnold<\/a> saw the mural in person for the first time, accompanied by his older brother, Tyler.<\/p>\n

\u200cThe mural was organised by The Anfield Wrap to commemorate an incredible year, following the Reds’ Champions League<\/a> final win in Madrid, and inspire young people.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the day the mural was unveiled, Alexander-Arnold said he hoped the mural would “stay for a long time”<\/a>. The ECHO understands there are no plans to remove or replace the mural at this time.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the ECHO<\/a> at the time, Alexander-Arnold<\/a> emphasised the important message he hopes young people will take from his journey. He said: \u201cThe main message that kids should gather from me and my story is that anything is possible.<\/p>\n

“Anything can happen\u2014because I was once that kid in a Gerrard or Carragher shirt.<\/p>\n

“They were the local players, and they made me feel like anything could happen. It wasn\u2019t the players who came in from elsewhere; it was the local lads who showed me that it\u2019s possible to live your dream.”<\/p>\n

\u200cThe artwork was created by Akse, a French graffiti artist known for painting the Klopp mural in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle.<\/p>\n

Initially, when The Anfield Wrap proposed the idea, Alexander-Arnold<\/a> thought it was \u201ca wind-up.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, when he saw the massive mural up close, he said he felt like he was dreaming. He said: \u201cI thought it was a joke at first, but once I realised it was real, it’s something you always dream of but never expect to happen.<\/p>\n

\u200c”It\u2019s something I\u2019m incredibly proud of, and my family and I are over the moon. I just want to thank everyone who made it happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cYou never really think something like this will occur and that you\u2019ll end up with this on the side of a building.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s quite surprising, but it\u2019s something I\u2019ve always wanted.<\/p>\n

“Getting to this point may have come a bit early, but being part of something like this is incredible.”<\/p>\n

In addition to its artistic significance, the mural is used to promote an important community cause – Fans Supporting Foodbanks – aiming to raise awareness of their efforts in the area.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on the mural’s important message, Alexander-Arnold<\/a> said: \u201cIt\u2019ll be great to see all the fans with it, and hopefully, it will garner more support for the foodbanks\u2014that\u2019s the main reason it\u2019s there.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s not just about the picture; it\u2019s about the message it conveys. Hopefully, it will raise awareness and encourage people to give back whenever they can.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s crucial for the good of the city to help combat poverty and hunger.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cThe photographs don\u2019t do it justice.
