The Sandpiper Hotel in Chesterfield has accommodated asylum seekers for nearly two years. However, residents have constantly complained over the noise, litter and men \u201cloitering\u201d and asking for money.<\/p>\n<p data-mce-linkchecker-status=\"valid\">The 46-bedroom site was once a three-star <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" title=\"The five best Western dramas to stream after 1923 on Netflix and beyond\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/showbiz\/tv-radio\/2046840\/western-dramas-netflix-prime-video-streaming-yellowstone-1923-deadwood\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Best Western\u00a0<\/a><a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/showbiz\/tv-radio\/2046840\/western-dramas-netflix-prime-video-streaming-yellowstone-1923-deadwood\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hotel<\/a> frequently used by visitors heading to the Peak District. It then closed down and reopened under a <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/news\/uk\/2051085\/visa-restriction-home-office-pakistan-nigeria-sri-lanka\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Home Office<\/a> contract, despite locals claiming not to have been consulted. Locals have since raised concern over the disruption it&#8217;s causing to their lives.<\/p>\n<p>One local, Shannon Freeman, 31, said the asylum seekers have been looking through people\u2019s windows on the street. \u201cWe got cameras and that seemed to stop,\u201d she told <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-14671189\/A-migrant-hotel-turned-lives-upside-quiet-country-road.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">MailOnline<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were fine at first. It is only in the last six months they have started to behave in a bad way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ms Freeman claimed locals were warned on Facebook to avoid the trail behind the hotel because &#8221; men are following women through the park.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Former owner of the hotel, Gary Cook, claimed the value of houses has since been lowered. \u201cI think there are about 80 blokes in there and it has lowered the value of the houses around here and it is not great for the hotel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it is totally run down now.
