{"id":792423,"date":"2026-02-27T11:27:14","date_gmt":"2026-02-27T11:27:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/792423\/"},"modified":"2026-02-27T11:27:14","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T11:27:14","slug":"cnn-anchor-forced-to-break-the-news-hes-getting-a-maga-boss","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/792423\/","title":{"rendered":"CNN Anchor Forced to Break the News He\u2019s Getting a MAGA Boss"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">CNN\u2019s Jake Tapper reported Thursday that Netflix had dropped its bid to buy the network\u2019s parent company, effectively handing CNN to the MAGA-friendly owner of Paramount.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">CEO David Ellison, the son of multibillionaire Larry Ellison, has been leading the overhaul of CBS News to appeal to conservative audiences, and now he\u2019s on track to do the same to what is perhaps President Donald Trump\u2019s most hated network.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">On The Lead, Tapper, 56, introduced the topic by noting that it \u201caffects everybody I\u2018m looking at right now in the studio.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cParamount has submitted a superior offer, according to Warner Bros. Discovery\u2018s board. As I\u2018ve noted, Warner Bros. Discovery is the parent company of CNN,\u201d Tapper said. Anna Moneymaker\/Getty Images <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">CNN Chief Media Analyst Brian Stelter, who has been with the network since 2013 (with a two-year break), then weighed in. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cIn this corporate tug of war, it seems Netflix has suddenly let go of the rope,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cThere\u2018s a lot, of course, that could still happen here,\u201d he continued, citing regulatory hurdles, \u201cbut the big news this afternoon is that Paramount suddenly is in a much stronger position to take over CNN and the rest of the Warner Bros. Discovery company, which includes HBO and the Warner Bros. movie studio, and all those other assets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Tapper and Stelter discuss Netflix dropping its bid for CNN's parent company. CNN <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Netflix\u2019s decision to back down comes two days after Paramount upped its bid from $30 to $31 per share. While Netflix\u2019s bid was only for Warner Bros. Discovery\u2019s streaming service and film studio, Paramount wanted everything.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav said Thursday that the bidding war has significantly increased the conglomerate\u2019s value.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">He added, per <a onclick=\"_sendArticleBodyInlineLinkClickAnalytics(&#039;https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2026\/02\/26\/media\/netflix-ted-sarandos-trump-white-house-paramount-wbd&#039;)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2026\/02\/26\/media\/netflix-ted-sarandos-trump-white-house-paramount-wbd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2026\/02\/26\/media\/netflix-ted-sarandos-trump-white-house-paramount-wbd\">CNN<\/a>, that the company has \u201cthus far achieved a 63 percent increase in value versus the first offer received in September, delivering significant value for WBD shareholders throughout the process.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cOur focus has and always will be maximizing value and certainty while mitigating downside risks,\u201d he continued, \u201cand the board will evaluate any proposal against that standard, with the objective of delivering the best deal for our shareholders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The review process for Paramount\u2019s acquisition of Warner Bros.
