Chris Davies hopes to have Lee Buchanan available for selection in the \u2018next few weeks\u2019 after the Birmingham City<\/a> full-back has featured for the under-21s.<\/p>\n Buchanan<\/a> is back in full training 14 months on from the ACL injury which forced him to miss all of Blues\u2019 matches in 2025.<\/p>\n The left-back has been named in Blues\u2019 EFL squad for the second half of the season and, with Kai Wagner nursing a shoulder injury<\/a> and Alex Cochrane currently out, Buchanan might have a path back into the fold.<\/p>\n Ensure our latest headlines always appear at the top of your Google Search<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n \u201cLee Buchanan is doing really well,\u201d says Davies. \u201cWe\u2019re going to look to get him some minutes for the under-21s.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve really liked the look of him in training. He\u2019s been back in, looking eager and strong, so I\u2019m encouraged by that.\u201d<\/p>\n There are plenty of second string games for Buchanan to build fitness in the short-term.<\/p>\n Blues\u2019 under-21s take on Middlesbrough at The Riverside on Monday \u2013 two hours before the first team play Boro at St Andrew\u2019s \u2013 before a double-header against Manchester United and Chelsea over next weekend.<\/p>\n Davies is wary that Buchanan hasn\u2019t been available for more than a few weeks since the end of the 2023\/24 season, before he was appointed manager.<\/p>\n Buchanan sustained a calf injury in Davies\u2019 first pre-season in charge which kept him out for four months before he suffered that knee injury in the final game of 2024 against Blackpool.<\/p>\n Davies added: \u201cI don\u2019t think Lee has had availability for a month for quite some time.
