George Russell has enjoyed an incredible start to the 2025 F1<\/a> season, with one stat highlighting his impressive performances.<\/p>\n

Russell is the only driver on the grid to have finished every competitive session in 2025 inside the top five.<\/p>\n\n\n

The British driver\u2019s impressive run of form means he sits fourth in the 2025 F1 drivers\u2019 championship, just six points behind Max Verstappen<\/a>.<\/p>\n

If the season was to end now, it\u2019s hard to argue against Verstappen or Russell being the driver of the year.<\/p>\n

Despite his starring performances, Russell is out of contract at the end of the season.<\/p>\n

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has insisted that he\u2019s happy with his current driver line-up.<\/p>\n

But will Russell be handed a new deal?<\/p>\n

Speaking to Sky Sports in Saudi Arabia, Wolff insisted that he\u2019s not held talks with Verstappen.<\/p>\n

\u201cI always say I don\u2019t flirt outside if I\u2019m happy in the relationship on a professional level,\u201d Wolff said of his current driver pairing.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m super happy with the line-up we have, I couldn\u2019t wish for anything better. Max is at Red Bull, we haven\u2019t had a conversation, we are continuing our trajectory.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s been performing in the car to the maximum and is doing great. George is on Max\u2019s level.\u201d<\/p>\n

Verstappen\u2019s future remains a major discussion point, with Red Bull\u2019s form inconsistent.<\/p>\n

After the Bahrain Grand Prix, Helmut Marko admitted he \u201cfeared\u201d losing Verstappen – something he\u2019s since backtracked on<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Verstappen has been F1\u2019s outstanding performer since 2021.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s proven that he doesn\u2019t need the fastest car in F1 to win races – or maintain his lead at the top of the drivers\u2019 championship.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s unlikely Mercedes would want to upset their current driver line-up, especially as both Russell and Kimi Antonelli<\/a> came through their junior academy.<\/p>\n

On performances alone, Russell is more than worthy of a new deal.<\/p>\n
