{"id":794047,"date":"2026-02-28T04:57:16","date_gmt":"2026-02-28T04:57:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/794047\/"},"modified":"2026-02-28T04:57:16","modified_gmt":"2026-02-28T04:57:16","slug":"netflix-considering-reviving-the-crown-for-special-on-ex-prince-andrews-downfall-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/794047\/","title":{"rendered":"Netflix considering reviving &#8216;The Crown&#8217; for special on ex-Prince Andrew&#8217;s downfall: report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hollywood is racing to cover former Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor\u2019s royal downfall over his ties to Jeffrey Epstein \u2014 and Netflix is at the forefront.<\/p>\n<p>The streamer is reportedly looking to revive its Emmy-winning royal drama \u201cThe Crown\u201d for a potential limited series about Mountbatten Windsor\u2019s public disgracing, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-15585879\/netflix-crown-prince-andrew-downfall.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">reports Daily Mail<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe events of last week are historic and unprecedented,\u201d an insider told the outlet, referring to <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/02\/19\/celebrity-news\/ex-prince-andrew-arrested-following-epstein-files-revelations\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the ex prince\u2019s arrest on Feb. 19.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Netflix is reportedly considering reviving \u201cThe Crown\u201d (seen above is James Murray as Prince Andrew in Season 5 episode, \u201cAnnus Horribilis\u201d) for a limited series on ex-Prince Andrew\u2019s arrest and downfall. \u00a9Netflix\/Courtesy Everett Collection<\/p>\n<p>The former prince (pictured above hiding while leaving Ayisham Police Station last Thursday) was arrested last week over his ties to Jeffrey Epstein.  REUTERS<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere have been discussions for some time with Left Bank Pictures, which owns the rights to \u2018The Crown,\u2019 for a series of one-off specials about royal scandals and dramas,\u201d the source continued. <\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018The Crown\u2019 as a series has ended but the name will live on. There have been advanced talks about doing a limited series, under \u2018The Crown\u2019 banner, about the Andrew saga which is as dramatic, if not more dramatic, than anything shown in the original series which included episodes on the abdication and the death of Diana.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Crown\u201d ran for six seasons on Netflix from Nov. 4, 2016 to Dec. 14, 2023, winning a total 21 Emmy awards during its run. <\/p>\n<p>A source revealed that there \u201chave been talks for some time\u201d with \u201cThe Crown\u2019s\u201d creators to do a \u201cseries of one-off special about royal scandals and dramas.\u201d (Pictured above is a still from the Season 5 of the Netflix show). The race is on in Hollywood to be the first studio to bring out an Andrew film,\u201d another source at Disney Studios told the outlet. <\/p>\n<p>Screenwriter Jeremy Brock, who wrote Amazon MGM Studio\u2019s \u201cA Very Royal Scandal,\u201d echoed both sources claims, telling the outlet that both Netflix and Amazon are \u201c100 percent\u201d in talks to make a drama based on the scandal.<\/p>\n<p>Netflix did not immediately respond to Page Six\u2019s request for comment. <\/p>\n<p>The former prince (pictured above Easter Sunday Mattins Service at St George\u2019s Chapel, Windsor Castle on March 31, 2024) was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office. Corbis via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested last Thursday, which was also his 66th birthday, on suspicion of misconduct in public office for allegedly forwarding confidential trade documents to Epstein. <\/p>\n<p>The arrest came one month after<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/02\/09\/world-news\/uk-cops-assessing-complaint-that-prince-andrew-shared-confidential-trade-info-with-epstein\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0anti-monarchy campaigner Graham Smith reported<\/a>\u00a0Mountbatten-Windsor to the Thames Valley Police over alleged misconduct in public office.<\/p>\n<p>If convicted, he could face a maximum sentence of life in prison.<\/p>\n<p>After staying in jail for 11 hours \u2014 during which time, the royal got his mugshot taken, was fingerprinted and submitted a saliva sample for DNA purposes \u2014 he was then released and <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/02\/19\/royal-family\/former-prince-andrew-looks-terrified-as-he-leaves-jail-hours-after-arrest\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">caught looking terrified<\/a> as he made his exit.<\/p>\n<p>In response to the arrest, King Charles (pictured above standing alongside his brother at Katharine, Duchess of Kent\u2019s Requiem Mass service at Westminster Cathedral on September 16, 2025) released a statement expressing his \u201cconcern.\u201d  Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>If convicted, Mountbatten-Windsor (seen above waving prior to a meeting in Jakarta on April 6, 2011) could face a maximum sentence of life in prison.  AFP via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>In response to his brother\u2019s arrest, <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/02\/19\/royal-family\/king-charles-speaks-out-on-ex-prince-andrews-arrest\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">King Charles released a statement<\/a>\u00a0expressing his \u201cdeepest concern\u201d over the accusations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet me state clearly: the law must take its course,\u201d the monarch said. \u201cAs this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter.
