{"id":797536,"date":"2026-03-01T19:48:12","date_gmt":"2026-03-01T19:48:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/797536\/"},"modified":"2026-03-01T19:48:12","modified_gmt":"2026-03-01T19:48:12","slug":"ducati-explains-marc-marquezs-thai-motogp-tyre-failure-the-rim-exploded","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/797536\/","title":{"rendered":"Ducati explains Marc Marquez\u2019s Thai MotoGP tyre failure: \u2018The rim exploded\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ducati MotoGP team boss Davide Tardozzi says Marc Marquez\u2019s tyre failure in the Thai Grand Prix was the result of the wheel rim \u201cexploding\u201d on a kerb.<\/p>\n<p>The reigning world champion was having a difficult opening grand prix of the season at Buriram, as a sluggish start saw him shuffled out of the podium places.<\/p>\n<p>Fighting back into fourth place, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/racer\/1654\/marc-marquez\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Marc Marquez<\/a> was closing in on Raul Fernandez for a potential third-place finish when he retired on lap 21 of 26 with an apparent puncture.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/teams\/ducati-lenovo-team\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ducati<\/a> has now clarified that the puncture came as a result of a kerb strike at Turn 4, which damaged the wheel rim.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnfortunately, he went to the kerb at Turn 4, and he broke the rim,\u201d Tardozzi told TNT Sport.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s why he lost the air, and he was forced to stop. He hit the edge of the apex and he broke the wheel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, I don\u2019t remember that I\u2019ve ever seen something like that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe could say that it was a mistake, but he has been really unlucky because many riders went out in Turn 4 and nobody had this problem.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnyway, it\u2019s like this.
