{"id":79810,"date":"2025-05-06T18:24:16","date_gmt":"2025-05-06T18:24:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/79810\/"},"modified":"2025-05-06T18:24:16","modified_gmt":"2025-05-06T18:24:16","slug":"politics-latest-farage-brands-uk-india-trade-deal-an-incredible-betrayal-as-lib-dems-vow-to-vote-against-it-politics-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/79810\/","title":{"rendered":"Politics latest: Farage brands UK-India trade deal &#8216;an incredible betrayal&#8217; &#8211; as Lib Dems vow to vote against it | Politics News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>By <a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/author\/tomos-evans-885\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tomos Evans<\/a>, Wales reporter<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Away from the UK-India trade deal, and there&#8217;s some grim new polling for Labour.<\/p>\n<p>A fresh Senedd poll ahead of next year&#8217;s election for the Welsh parliament shows the party having slumped to a record low.<\/p>\n<p>Plaid Cymru would have the highest vote share (30%), with Reform UK in second place (25%).<\/p>\n<p>The Labour Party would get a predicted 18% of the vote, according to the YouGov poll carried out for ITV Cymru Wales and Cardiff University.<\/p>\n<p>If replicated at next year\u2019s election, the vote share would be their worst since the first devolved election in 1999.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Welsh Conservatives \u2013 currently the largest opposition group in the Senedd \u2013 are on 13% of the vote, the Liberal Democrats on 7%, while the Greens are on 5%.<\/p>\n<p>The poll comes hours after First Minister Eluned Morgan gave a speech on Tuesday where she called for the winter fuel allowance cuts to be reviewed and urged the UK government to <br \/>&#8220;respect&#8221; Welsh devolution.<\/p>\n<p>While it is only one poll, Dr Jac Larner from Cardiff University&#8217;s Wales Governance Centre said it showed both Labour and the Conservatives would experience a &#8220;substantial erosion of support&#8221;, creating &#8220;a newly fragmented four-party political landscape in Wales&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><b>&#8216;Wales ready for real change&#8217;<\/b><\/p>\n<p>A Welsh Labour spokesperson said the poll showed there was &#8220;more work to do&#8221; and the choice for voters was to continue with Labour&#8217;s &#8220;ambitious plans&#8221; or &#8220;risk instability&#8221; under Plaid and Reform.<\/p>\n<p>A Plaid Cymru spokesperson said it was the &#8220;only party standing up for Wales&#8217;s interests&#8221; and would work hard to bring about a &#8220;fairer, more ambitious Wales&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>A Reform UK spokesperson said people in Wales were &#8220;ready for real change&#8221; and it was &#8220;firmly established as a major political force in Wales&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>A Welsh Conservative spokesperson said the party offered &#8220;the only credible alternative to a clapped out Labour government&#8221; that had been &#8220;routinely propped up&#8221; by Plaid Cymru.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"By Tomos Evans, Wales reporter Away from the UK-India trade deal, and there&#8217;s some grim new polling for&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":79811,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[5226],"tags":[802,748,2000,299,5187,1699,4884,16,15],"class_list":{"0":"post-79810","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-brexit","8":"tag-brexit","9":"tag-britain","10":"tag-eu","11":"tag-europe","12":"tag-european","13":"tag-european-union","14":"tag-great-britain","15":"tag-uk","16":"tag-united-kingdom"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@uk\/114462291988803114","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/79810","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=79810"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/79810\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/79811"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=79810"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=79810"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=79810"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
