A third fire in a week has taken place at a popular Birmingham<\/a> beauty spot with fears the latest blaze was started deliberately.<\/p>\n

The fire took hold in Sutton Park in Sutton Coldfield<\/a> tonight, Tuesday, May 6, by the model aircraft field.<\/p>\n

Around an acre of \u2018coarse ground\u2019 was well alight with West Midlands Fire Service receiving several calls to the incident.<\/p>\n

A witness at the scene, William Bowler, said: \u201cThe fire lasted for around 15 minutes before the fire brigade arrived to put it out.<\/p>\n

\u201cMany of the people I was speaking to as well as my brother said he saw multiple young men or boys leaving the area on scooters.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey believe they started this fire but I cannot be sure.\u201d<\/p>\n

West Midlands Fire Service sent one crew from Sutton Coldfield to the scene.<\/p>\n

A spokeswoman for the service said: \u201cWe received three calls to the incident the first at 5.34pm.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne acre of coarse ground was well alight.<\/p>\n

\u201cFire officers used one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have no information on how the fire started. We left the scene at 6.24pm.\u201d<\/p>\n

It followed two blazes in Sutton Park last week.<\/p>\n

The first took place near Banners Gate on the evening of Wednesday, April 30 with the fire service called to tackle it.<\/p>\n

Then on Friday, May 2, some four fire crews with around 20 firefighters were called to tackle a fire in woodland along a path from the Banners Gate car park at around 5.30pm.<\/p>\n

Two crews from Perry Barr<\/a>, one from Erdington<\/a> and another from Ward End attended, along with a drone operator.<\/p>\n
