A man has been arrested and charged after an Edinburgh home<\/a> was allegedly “firebombed” twice within days amid a gangland turf war.<\/p>\n

We previously told how the property on Hay Drive in the Niddrie area went up in flames in the early hours of Friday, April 4 – the second time in a fortnight. No one was injured in the fire, which spread to a family home next door.<\/p>\n

At the time police<\/a> said the attack was linked to a wave of firebombings and firearms being discharged in the capital.<\/p>\n

The same property had been targeted on March 23.<\/p>\n

Officers have now confirmed that a 41-year-old man was arrested by another police force and charged by Police Scotland<\/a> in connection with “two fire-raisings” at the property. He was due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday, May 6.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile police<\/a> have confirmed another arrest has also been made as officers continue to investigate linked violent incidents in the East and West.<\/p>\n

A 24-year-old man was also arrested and charged in Edinburgh for a breach of bail on Friday and appeared in Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday.<\/p>\n

Detective Chief Superintendent David Ferry said: “I want to make it clear that we will not stop until we bring those responsible for this criminality to justice.<\/p>\n

It’s understood at least 26 people have now been arrested as police try to tackle the growing gangland turf war which started in Edinburgh and spread to Glasgow<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sources say trouble flared between rival factions after hoods linked to mobster<\/a> kingpin Mark Richardson, who is in jail, were accused of stealing a stash of cocaine worth \u00a3500,000 linked to a Mr Big.<\/p>\n
