Footage of training exercises at Murrayfield Stadium shows the incredible moment a Chinook helicopter took off from the grounds. Exercise Kukri Dawn saw armed officers<\/a> and military personnel working together in a training scenario at Murrayfield Stadium<\/a> on Tuesday, March 3.<\/p>\n While the exercise – which was led by the RAF – took place, the public were not permitted to enter the stadium’s ground and blank ammunition which sounds like gun shots could be heard.<\/p>\n As well as this, a Chinook helicopter could be seen landing in the field outside Murrayfield. In the video shared with Edinburgh Live the massive machine can be seen approaching the stadium, kicking up dust as it nears the ground. An individual can be seen on the rear loading ramp. Upon landing a large number of personnel in camouflage can be seen running out of the chopper.<\/p>\n A second video shows the helicopter starting up again before slowly lifting off the ground and taking off.<\/p>\n Warning the public of the training exercise on Facebook, Police Scotland wrote: “We are working with the military as part of a planned exercise and tomorrow (Tuesday 3 March), armed policing will be involved in a firearms training scenario at Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh.<\/p>\n “This means you may see armed police officers and military personnel, as well as military helicopters, arriving at Murrayfield Stadium. You will hear blank ammunition, which sounds like gun shots, being used from around 1.30pm \u2013 2.30pm.<\/p>\n “There will be no public access to Murrayfield during this time and nothing will be seen once those involved are inside the grounds. Exercises are a crucial way for different organisations to learn, share knowledge and work well together.<\/p>\n “It\u2019s important for exercises to be as realistic as possible to fully test a multi-agency response. In real life, this could save lives and prevent further injuries.<\/p>\n “This activity is part of Exercise Kukri Dawn, led by the RAF, which previously took place in 2025 RAF Odiham and has been planned for months.
