Liverpool<\/a> legend Phil Thompson has warned Aston Villa<\/a>, Chelsea<\/a> and Manchester United<\/a> that the Reds will finish in the top five in the Premier League this season, with the Red Devils in his view \u2018getting away with it\u2019 of late.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Wolves<\/a> ended Liverpool\u2019s four match winning streak on Tuesday night, with one-time target Andre<\/a>\u2018s deflected 94th\u2011minute winner heaping further pressure on Arne Slot.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Liverpool have now lost five games to 90th minute goals this season, the most for any side in a single campaign in the Premier League\u2019s history and raising real questions about their concentration levels.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

There are real worries on Merseyside that Liverpool could miss out on Champions League football, with the likes of Aston Villa, Chelsea and Manchester United all battling for spots behind Manchester City<\/a> and Arsenal<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Liverpool legend Thompson though remains confident that Slot\u2019s side will be top five.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Pointing out that results have not gone by the way of Aston Villa or Chelsea, Thompson also declared that the points Manchester United have won under Michael Carrick have had the effect of masking their poor performances.<\/p>\n

Thompson said on LFC TV<\/a> (35:55): \u201cVilla are having a hard time.<\/p>\n

A drab first-half performance seemed a fitting homage to the Premier League by Slot\u2019s men, with the manager admitting that he does not find joy in watching most of the league\u2019s games ahead of the fixture.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Aston Villa\u2019s 4-1 thumping by Chelsea at home on Wednesday night will boost Liverpool\u2019s hopes that their form is faltering, though the Blues\u2019 win is a warning that there are a host of rivals for a top five spot.<\/p>\n
