Seny Dieng\u2019s time with Sheffield Wednesday could soon be over, with Pierce Charles close to a recovery from injury.<\/p>\n
Dieng<\/a> has spent the past fortnight on loan at Hillsborough. An emergency loan as the Owls were left without a senior goalkeeper thanks to injuries, they last a week.<\/p>\n With the loan extended for a further seven days last Friday, Dieng has now made three appearances for the relegated Championship outfit, and has earned praise for the saves he\u2019s made in the three games – all of which have ended in defeat.<\/p>\n It remains to be seen whether Dieng will get another week in South Yorkshire, but either way, his time with Henrik Pedersen\u2019s side appears to be coming to an end at some point in the near future.<\/p>\n That\u2019s because Wednesday\u2019s first-choice keeper Charles is close to making a return. And once he is fit and ready to return to action, which could even be this weekend, the club are no longer permitted to have an emergency loan.<\/p>\n Updating on Charles at the weekend, after a training session to determine his ability to dive on the side of his shoulder injury, Pedersen told the Star: \u201cVery positive. Yes, very positive, so that was nice.<\/p>\n \u201cThere was no reaction in the shoulder after his training yesterday so it was good. I think [he could be back] one of the next two games. I hope. But let’s see.\u201d<\/p>\n Wednesday may choose to extend Dieng\u2019s emergency loan by one further week, for Charles to fully complete his rehabilitation. That would mean the Senegal international would play games against Derby County on Saturday, and Watford next Tuesday, as emergency loan rules mean the player has to play every game during the period of his loan.<\/p>\n But with Charles so close to a return, Dieng\u2019s season will effectively be over. After moves to Hull City and Feyenoord fell through during the January transfer window, Boro<\/a> went ahead with a loan move for Joe Wildsmith from West Brom anyway.<\/p>\n That meant Dieng was not registered in Boro\u2019s 25-man EFL squad. And unless he secured a Boro exit to a foreign league whose transfer window is still open, like the MLS, for example, he will be back on Teesside, training with no possibility of playing.<\/p>\n Speaking after first joining Sheffield Wednesday, Dieng said: \u201cIt\u2019s big for me personally. I have been out for quite a while so it is a very, very nice time to be back.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I heard of the interest, I got really excited.
