You\u2019re appearing in\u00a0Mrs. Warren\u2019s Profession\u00a0at the Garrick Theatre\u2014what can you tell us about the show?<\/strong><\/p>\n

At its heart, it\u2019s a story about a mother and daughter whose values clash in a world of moral grey. It asks bold questions about societal expectations versus private realities \u2014 and how we define goodness in a flawed system. It\u2019s unbelievably sharp and exciting.<\/p>\n

George Bernard Shaw\u2019s play tackles\u00a0bold themes like gender roles and societal hypocrisy. How do these resonate with modern audiences in this production?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Obviously, the grapple with power structures and how gender and class inform them will be all too familiar for audiences. What sets the play apart is that it doesn\u2019t just comment on these systems \u2014 we meet characters who are actively fighting to break out of them. Seeing them present in that struggle makes the stakes feel urgent and real.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ve performed in diverse roles, from Hamilton to Macbeth. How does playing Frank Gardner in\u00a0Mrs. Warren\u2019s Profession\u00a0challenge or inspire you as an actor?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Between all three of those characters, there\u2019s certainly common ground in their tenacity and drive. The challenge of Frank has been squaring his almost short-sighted, decadent pursuits with the self-awareness and emotional intelligence he possesses. Playing characters like that is an invitation to step into their headspace, so it\u2019s been a delight \u2014 and a challenge \u2014 to keep up with him.<\/p>\n

What has it been like working alongside such a talented cast, including Imelda Staunton and Bessie Carter?<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s been a real masterclass, honestly. Our whole company is filled with actors whose work brings the best out of you. And it stems from the top down with Imelda and Bessie. They\u2019re just brilliant.<\/p>\n

Dominic Cooke has reimagined this classic for a contemporary audience. What has been your experience with his direction?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dominic has such a clear and precise way of working. He draws out so much nuance and detail in the characters and, in turn, the play itself. He\u2019s created a rich world that\u2019s truthful and so much fun to play in.<\/p>\n

What would you say to anyone thinking of booking to see\u00a0Mrs. Warren\u2019s Profession?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Be prepared for the unexpected. It\u2019s witty, provocative and refuses to give you the easy answers. I may be slightly biased, but I know it\u2019s the kind of theatre that I\u2019d love to see.<\/p>\n
