{"id":807169,"date":"2026-03-06T05:07:49","date_gmt":"2026-03-06T05:07:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/807169\/"},"modified":"2026-03-06T05:07:49","modified_gmt":"2026-03-06T05:07:49","slug":"eu-unveils-new-e1-5-billion-investment-boost-to-drive-ukraines-recovery-reconstruction-and-modernisation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/807169\/","title":{"rendered":"EU unveils new \u20ac1.5 billion investment boost to drive Ukraine\u2019s recovery, reconstruction and modernisation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today, a new package of <strong>eight programmes<\/strong> helping Ukraine tackle the country\u2019s most urgent economic and social challenges was endorsed by the sixth <strong>Steering Board<\/strong> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uif.eu\/\" class=\"ecl-link ecl-link--icon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ukraine Investment Framework<\/a> (UIF).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>These programmes, <strong>worth EUR 1.5 billion<\/strong> and<strong> aimed at unlocking EUR 3.4 billion of new investments<\/strong>, will bring support to vital sectors, like <strong>energy, education, connectivity, agriculture, and small business<\/strong>, as well as fund the construction of shelters in <strong>education facilities<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For the first time, the UIF will also allocate resources to <strong>dual-use technologies and strategic industries<\/strong>. This follows the European Commission\u2019s commitment announced at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rebuildukraine.in.ua\/en\/eu-ukraine-investment-conference\" class=\"ecl-link ecl-link--icon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EU-Ukraine Investment Conference<\/a> last November.<\/p>\n<p>A unified European effort<\/p>\n<p>Chaired by the <strong>European Commission<\/strong>, the sixth <strong>Steering Board\u00a0<\/strong>of the<strong> Ukraine Investment Framework<\/strong> brought together today <strong>EU Member States<\/strong>, observers from the <strong>European Parliament<\/strong>, the <strong>Government and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine<\/strong>, the <strong>Government of Norway<\/strong>, and key <strong>European and international financial institutions<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The new programmes announced will be implemented by financing institutions \u2013 some that are already working with the Commission in Ukraine (EBRD, IBRD, KfW, IFC), and new partners (Finnvera, BPIFrance, CDP) \u2013 which shows the relevance of UIF in attracting new partners.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>To date, the <strong>UIF\u00a0<\/strong>has already allocated <strong>EUR 8.4 billion<\/strong>, representing <strong>90%\u00a0<\/strong>of its <strong>total capacity<\/strong>. These allocations are expected to mobilise <strong>EUR 25.2 billion in investments<\/strong> in Ukraine.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Background<\/p>\n<p>The UIF is part of the <strong>EUR 50 billion\u00a0<\/strong>EU\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/neighbourhood-enlargement.ec.europa.eu\/european-neighbourhood-policy\/countries-region\/ukraine\/ukraine-facility_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Ukraine Facility<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>designed to attract public and private investments for the recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine. It is <strong>endowed with<\/strong> financial instruments totalling <strong>EUR 9.5 billion<\/strong>.
