{"id":808470,"date":"2026-03-06T18:53:12","date_gmt":"2026-03-06T18:53:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/808470\/"},"modified":"2026-03-06T18:53:12","modified_gmt":"2026-03-06T18:53:12","slug":"4-men-arrested-in-london-for-allegedly-spying-on-jewish-community-for-iran","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/808470\/","title":{"rendered":"4 men arrested in London for allegedly spying on Jewish community for Iran"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(JTA) \u2014 Police in London have arrested four men they say were spying for Iran on Jewish community sites, with the likely goal of facilitating attacks against them.\n<\/p>\n<p>The arrests come as the U.S.-Israel war on Iran ignites concerns about Iran\u2019s sleeper cells abroad, which have long targeted Jewish and Israeli sites as part of the Islamic Republic\u2019s war against the west and Israel.\n        <\/p>\n<p>The head of the Metropolitan Police\u2019s counter-terrorism unit, Helen Flanagan, said in a statement that the arrests emerged from \u201ca long-running investigation and part of our ongoing work to disrupt malign activity where we suspect it.\u201d\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"newsletter-promo\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/jewishchronicle.timesofisrael.com\/signup\/?utm_source=jewishchronicle-articles&amp;utm_medium=middle-link&amp;utm_campaign=signup-buttons\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tGet The Jewish Chronicle Weekly Edition by email and never miss our top stories<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/a><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/jewishchronicle.timesofisrael.com\/signup\/?utm_source=jewishchronicle-articles&amp;utm_medium=middle-link&amp;utm_campaign=signup-buttons\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tFree Sign Up<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>The men ranged in age from 22 to 55 and all had Iranian citizenship; three of the men were also British citizens. The police did not offer details about which sites the men surveilled or whether they were believed to have any imminent plans to stage an attack.<\/p>\n<p>The Community Service Trust, a British Jewish security agency, thanked the police and said, \u201cSecurity is strong across the Jewish community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Iran is seen as behind some of the biggest attacks on Jewish sites abroad, including the AMIA Jewish community center bombing in Buenos Aires in 1994.
