CRIMINALS who refuse to face victims\u2019 families for sentencing will be hit with extra jail time.<\/p>\n

Cowards could get two more years under the Victims and Courts Bill which is introduced today.<\/p>\n

Those facing whole life orders, who would not be deterred by extra time, face being confined to cells and losing privileges such as gym access.<\/p>\n

The bill is set to cover all crimes<\/a>, not just the worst and minister Alex Davies-Jones vowed: \u201cJustice isn\u2019t optional.\u201d<\/p>\n

Several families have campaigned for action against the courtroom sentencing dodgers.<\/p>\n

They include Cheryl Korbel whose daughter Olivia<\/a>, nine, was shot dead by Liverpool drug dealer Thomas Cashman<\/a> as he chased a rival into her home.<\/p>\n

Cheryl wanted Cashman to hear her statement<\/a> to \u201cunderstand the pain he\u2019s caused\u201d.<\/p>\n

PM Sir Keir Starmer<\/a> promised her he would change the law.<\/p>\n

Baby killer nurse Lucy Letby<\/a>, and Jordan McSweeney<\/a>, who killed Zara Aleena in Ilford, East London, also failed to face their victims\u2019 families in court.<\/p>\n

Crossbow killer Kyle Clifford<\/a> who murdered three of the Hunt family in Bushey, Herts<\/a>, refused to attend sentencing where he got a whole life order in March.<\/p>\n

Southport child murderer Axel Rudakubana also avoided facing families<\/a> as he was removed from his hearing for shouting.<\/p>\n

London\u2019s Independent Victims\u2019 Commissioner Claire Waxman, said: \u201cI am pleased this Government has listened and included other measures, such as prison<\/a> sanctions, which I hope will put an end to this cruel injustice.\u201d<\/p>\n
