At least six people have been killed after tornadoes <\/a>tore through Michigan<\/a> and Oklahoma<\/a> and as storms continue to rattle the Central United States.<\/p>\n

The National Weather Service office in Northern Indiana <\/a>warned of a \u201clarge and extremely dangerous tornado\u201d that struck parts of southwestern Michigan Friday, USA TODAY <\/a>reported. <\/p>\n

The Branch County Sheriff\u2019s Office said<\/a> three people were killed and 12 more were injured, including three who were taken to the hospital, when the tornado hit the Union Lake area. <\/p>\n

A video<\/a> posted to Facebook<\/a> by a Michigan resident showed what appears to be a massive tornado ripping through homes off Union Lake. <\/p>\n

\u201cOh my god,\u201d the local said. \u201cIt is lifting houses \u2014 holy s***.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cass County officials reported<\/a> one death and several injuries from the storm. Cass County Emergency Manager Manny DeLaRosa said homes and barns were majorly damaged or destroyed. <\/p>\n

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer<\/a> said in an X post <\/a>Friday night that she was activating the state\u2019s emergency operations center \u201cto coordinate an all-hands-on-deck response to severe weather in southwestern Michigan.\u201d<\/p>\n

Three people were killed in Branch County and another in Cass County as a tornado struck parts of southwestern Michigan Friday (MLive)<\/p>\n

Michigan State Police said<\/a> \u201csignificant wind damage, possible tornadoes, and injuries\u201d were reported in Branch, Cass and Saint Joseph counties. <\/p>\n

Thursday night, a mother and her teenage daughter were found dead <\/a>in their car in Major County, Oklahoma, after it was hit by a tornado, according to reports. <\/p>\n

OklahomaGovernor Kevin Stitt shared his condolences, writing <\/a>on Facebook, \u201cI am praying for the family as they grieve this tragic loss, as well as all those impacted by the storms.\u201d<\/p>\n

Severe weather was reported in parts of the Plains, Mississippi Valley and Ohio Valley over the past 48 hours or so, The Weather Channel <\/a>reported. <\/p>\n

Tornado watches remained in effect in Oklahoma, Kansas<\/a>, Arkansas<\/a>, Missouri<\/a> and Iowa <\/a>on Friday night, according to the National Weather Service. <\/p>\n

Extreme thunderstorms are expected to reach from southern Texas <\/a>to western Tennessee<\/a> and northwestern Alabama<\/a> on Saturday, according to AccuWeather<\/a>.<\/p>\n
