AI startups overall raised $171 billion, or 90% of the capital raised last month. It\u2019s a stunning number that feels like only the start.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That record spending was more than three times the global <a href=\"https:\/\/news.crunchbase.com\/ai\/global-vc-investment-surged-us-ai-dominated-january-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">VC spend in January<\/a> and was dominated by mammoth funding rounds from just three companies: OpenAI, Anthropic, and Waymo.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">OpenAI\u2019s latest <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2026\/02\/27\/openai-raises-110b-in-one-of-the-largest-private-funding-rounds-in-history\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">$110 billion<\/a> raise led the pack. It was one of the largest private rounds ever raised and valued the company at $730 billion.\u00a0Its rival <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2026\/02\/12\/anthropic-raises-another-30-billion-in-series-g-with-a-new-value-of-380-billion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Anthropic<\/a> nabbed a $30 billion Series G at a $380 billion valuation. Lastly, Waymo raised <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/waymo-valued-126-billion-latest-financing-2026-02-02\/\" target=\"_blank\">$16 billion<\/a> at a valuation of $126 billion. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These three companies alone were responsible for 83% of the venture dollars raised last month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The amount raised by just OpenAI, Anthropic, and Waymo last month was one-third of the total $425 billion venture spend in 2025, <a href=\"https:\/\/news.crunchbase.com\/venture\/funding-data-third-largest-year-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">according to Crunchbase<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"AI continues to dominate the venture world, per a new Crunchbase report.
