India has briefed the U.S., the U.K., Saudi Arabia, UAE and Russia after striking targets<\/a> in Pakistan\u2019s Punjab province and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) early Wednesday (May 7, 2025) morning, government sources said. <\/p>\n

The Ministry of External Affairs said that India had \u201ccredible leads\u201d and, eyewitness accounts that identified the terrorists and evidence towards the involvement of Pakistan-based terror groups, and that those were the targets. <\/p>\n

The leaders of all five countries briefed have been in touch with Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the past two weeks.\u00a0 India is still expecting a visit by Iran\u2019s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Wednesday, although officials said his arrival had been delayed by a few hours. <\/p>\n

Focused, precise<\/p>\n

\u2060\u201dIndia\u2019s actions have been focused and precise. They were measured, responsible and designed to be non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani civilian, economic or military targets have been hit. Only known terror camps were targeted,\u201d a statement issued by the Indian Embassy in Washington shared by the MEA said.<\/p>\n

In its statement, the MEA also said that it had expected that \u201cPakistan would take action against terrorists and the infrastructure that supports them\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cInstead, during the fortnight that has gone by, Pakistan has indulged in denial and made allegations of false flag operations against India.\u201d<\/p>\n

Marco Rubio briefed<\/p>\n

\u00a0It added that NSA Ajit Doval had spoken to Acting U.S. NSA and Secretary of State Marco Rubio about India\u2019s actions.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In a post on social media platform X, Mr. Rubio said that he was engaged with the leadership on both sides, quoting U.S. President Donald Trump\u2019s earlier statement on the historical conflict between India and Pakistan and his hope that the current escalation would end soon.<\/p>\n

China, that was not among the countries listed as briefed by the MEA referred to the strikes as \u201cregrettable\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are concerned about the ongoing situation,\u201d said the Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson on Wednesday morning, said China, calling itself a neighbour to both India and Pakistan. \u201cChina opposes all forms of terrorism\u201d, the spokesperson added, calling for both sides to \u201cexercise restraint and refrain from taking actions that may further complicate the situation.<\/p>\n
