\n\t\t\t\t\tA building has collapsed and Scotland’s busiest railway station has been closed until further notice after a fire broke out at a vape shop\t\t\t\t\t <\/p>\n

A huge fire has broken out near Glasgow\u00a0Central railway station causing major travel disruption and a building to partially collapse.<\/p>\n

Dozens of trains were cancelled on Sunday evening after a fire broke out at a vape shop in Union Street.<\/p>\n

National Rail said the station will be closed until further notice as crews continued to tackle the fire five hours after it began.<\/p>\n

Paul Sweeney, Labour MSP for Glasgow, said the building, which is believed to date back to 1851, had partially collapsed. <\/p>\n

\u201cSadly the building has now partially collapsed,\u201d he wrote on X.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope the fire can be contained. The corner of the Forsyth Building, as well as the Caledonian Chambers and Central Hotel seem unaffected.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a massive blow to Union Street with the restoration of the Egyptian Halls in prospect.\u201d<\/p>\n

No trains will run to or from the high-level platforms at Scotland\u2019s busiest station, and trains that run through the low-level platforms will not call at\u00a0Glasgow\u00a0Central.<\/p>\n

Network Rail said the station will remain closed on Monday morning and National Rail expects disruption to continue on routes to, from and through the station until end of the day on Monday.<\/p>\n

First Minister John Swinney said: \u201cI am deeply concerned about the fire near\u00a0Glasgow\u00a0Central Station tonight and very grateful to all of the emergency services who are responding.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease continue to follow travel guidance, avoid the area and stay safe.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a statement at 8.30pm, a Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: \u201cFirefighters continue to work to extinguish a large building fire on Union Street,\u00a0Glasgow.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt its height, 15 fire appliances and specialist resources, including three high-reach vehicles and a water rescue team, were mobilised to the area.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were first alerted at 3.46pm on Sunday, March 8, to reports of a fire affecting the ground floor of a four-storey commercial building.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are no reported casualties, and crews remain at the scene.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some ticket acceptance is in place, with Avanti West Coast passengers able to use their tickets at no extra cost on LNER services between Edinburgh and London King\u2019s Cross.<\/p>\n
