{"id":816179,"date":"2026-03-10T07:54:16","date_gmt":"2026-03-10T07:54:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/816179\/"},"modified":"2026-03-10T07:54:16","modified_gmt":"2026-03-10T07:54:16","slug":"surrey-trains-set-for-easter-weekend-disruption-as-vital-engineering-work-planned-on-london-waterloo-line","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/816179\/","title":{"rendered":"Surrey trains set for Easter weekend disruption as vital engineering work planned on London Waterloo line"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Passengers have been told to check before they travel on trains to London Waterloo over the Easter weekend<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"A reduced service will operate between London Waterloo and Clapham Junction over the Easter Weekend\" loading=\"eager\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/0_Work-at-Queenstown-Road-with-a-SWR-train-passing_cropped.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p aria-label=\"A reduced service will operate between London Waterloo and Clapham Junction over the Easter Weekend\" class=\"ImageCaption_caption-title__ccyQU\" data-testid=\"caption-title\">A reduced service will operate between London Waterloo and Clapham Junction over the Easter Weekend(Image: Network Rail)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Vital engineering work will see reduced services to London Waterloo from many Surrey towns this Easter weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Network Rail has shared that a reduced service will operate between London Waterloo and Clapham Junction over the Easter Weekend, while teams carry out engineering works.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">This is due to impact travel to Waterloo for passengers in <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.getsurrey.co.uk\/all-about\/weybridge\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Weybridge<\/a>, <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.getsurrey.co.uk\/all-about\/staines\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Staines<\/a>, Windsor and Eton as well as across South East London.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">From Friday, April 3, to Monday, April 6, engineers will be replacing switches and crossings just outside the entrance to platforms 20 to 24 at London Waterloo.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Teams will also carry out strengthening and refurbishment work on the railway bridge over Lambeth Road and also continue work on the footbridge on platforms 3 to 6 at Clapham Junction.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">This means that a number of services will start and finish their journeys at Clapham Junction, not offering direct services to London Waterloo.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Speaking on behalf of South Western Railway and Network Rail Wessex, George Murrell, Route Renewals Director, said: &#8220;We are asking passengers to check before they travel as services from London Waterloo are changing over the Easter weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;London Waterloo is one of the busiest stations in the country, switches and crossings are heavily used and need to be replaced over time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">As part of these works, a number of train services will be affected during the Easter weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">On Friday, April 3, Saturday, April 4 and Monday April 6 these services will start and finish their journeys at Clapham Junction:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"UnorderedList_unordered-list__gzblI\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"unordered-list\">\n<li class=\"LiItem_li-item__IF4xI\">London Waterloo and Weybridge via Staines<\/li>\n<li class=\"LiItem_li-item__IF4xI\">London Waterloo and Windsor &amp; Eton Riverside<\/li>\n<li class=\"LiItem_li-item__IF4xI\">London Waterloo and Reading<\/li>\n<li class=\"LiItem_li-item__IF4xI\">London Waterloo and London Waterloo via Richmond and Kingston<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Passengers can change at Clapham Junction for services to London Waterloo.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Train services towards <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.getsurrey.co.uk\/all-about\/woking\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Woking<\/a> and Basingstoke will continue to run. However, Network Rail has advised passengers to check before they travel, as other engineering work is taking place in the Eastleigh and Honiton areas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">On Sunday, April 5, only the line closure will be extended to Barnes. Train services between London Waterloo to Reading and Windsor &amp; Eton Riverside will be diverted via Wimbledon and Twickenham.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Queenstown Road (Battersea) will be closed throughout the Easter weekend works. Similarly, services from London Waterloo to Hampton Court will not run.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Services between London Waterloo and London Waterloo via Richmond and <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.getsurrey.co.uk\/all-about\/kingston\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Kingston<\/a> will run between Kingston and Barnes only.
