If you ever need an endorphin boost, London is here to serve. Our city has fantastic\u00a0food<\/a>, banging nights out<\/a>, serene green spaces<\/a>\u00a0and spectacular culture<\/a>\u00a0in droves. We won\u2019t pretend that it\u2019s all sunshine and rainbows \u2013 the rental market is still a nightmare<\/a>\u00a0and the cost of living<\/a> is\u00a0remains frustratingly high, but the capital still has stuff going for it. Don\u2019t believe us? A\u00a0huge new\u00a0 study has just named\u00a0London\u00a0one of the \u2018happiest\u2019 cities in the world.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But what is\u00a0happiness? Happy City Index<\/a>\u00a0reckons that\u00a0it stems\u00a0from things like quality education, inclusive policies,\u00a0a good\u00a0economy, decent transport, environmental protection, access to green areas and innovation. So, the index assessed 200 cities across the world on each and every one of those things to create it\u2019s happiness ranking for 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The index caveats that\u00a0\u2018it would be misleading to crown just one city as the winner\u2019. So, instead of\u00a0naming\u00a0one city the single happiest of them all,\u00a0the index\u00a0grouped places into either \u2018gold\u2019, \u2018silver\u2019 or \u2018bronze\u2019 categories. And this year, London secured\u00a0gold.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Big Smoke landed 31st on the list with an overall score of 842, two places up from last year. The index called it\u00a0a \u2018powerhouse of business, culture, and governance\u2019, scoring\u00a0the capital particularly highly for education and inclusivity, urban management and environmental protection.<\/p>\n

And if you ever feel sad about your daily commute, just remember that we\u2019ve actually got it pretty good. In fact, London was the highest scoring city in the index\u2019s mobility category and named a leading city for the quality of its public transport. As it happens, Time Out readers agree<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n
