She wasn’t one of the pre-race favourites, and she’d spent most of her young career riding in service of her EF teammates. While we’ve come to expect the rainbow jersey to be confirmation of a rider’s quality, Vallieres’ win was a sign of things to come.

That was confirmed at Strade Bianche last weekend when the 24-year-old battled at the front of the race to finish fifth after a very strong performance on the Tuscan gravel.

She was riding her new Cannondale SuperSix Evo, of course decked out in an excellent rainbow stripe paintjob but with plenty of extra detail hiding in plain sight. We sent photographer Xavier Pereyron to get a closer look.

Magdeleine Valleries’s Cannondale SuperSix Evo

Xavier Pereyron

SRAM rightly gave Vallieres a rainbow cassette to match the frame.

Xavier Pereyron

The new SuperSix Evo was launched to the public just last month, featuring increased aerodynamics and full builds as light as 6.35kg, but of course this bike will be more than that because of the old 6.8kg UCI minimum. It’s a good excuse to add a few hundred grams of paint at the very least.

Xavier Pereyron

Part of that aero update includes a slimmer but more elongated head tube as well as a new cockpit, which in this case should be brushing the new UCI minimum width rules.

Xavier Pereyron

EF are sponsored by Vision wheels, and these are the Metron 45 RS, launched last year to include aerodynamic carbon spokes.
