A ‘thriving’ nursery in Shawlands has been sold after being run by the same owners for 35 years.<\/p>\n

Poppins Kindergarten is an established children\u2019s day nursery situated on Queens Drive in the Southside<\/a> area,\u00a0and\u00a0provides childcare for up to 47 children.<\/p>\n

Jennifer Stewart and founding partner Elaine have run Poppins since 1990 and sold it as they prepare to retire.<\/p>\n

They said:\u00a0“After thirty-five years of devotion and dedication to Poppins, we have felt the time has come to take a step back and look to the possibility of retirement.”<\/p>\n

Under their watch, Poppins Kindergarten has regularly received ‘Very Good’ to ‘Excellent’ grades with the Care Inspectorate.<\/p>\n

Jennifer and Elaine added:\u00a0“We are delighted to pass over a nursery that is thriving in all aspects, and we trust it will continue to do so under the new ownership.<\/p>\n

“At this time, we would like to thank all our parents and children across our thirty-five years of service, as well as Glasgow City Council<\/a> and their early years department, for their continued support and overwhelming best wishes for our future.<\/p>\n

Following a confidential sales process with\u00a0Christie & Co, Saqib and Amir Sadiq of SADCO Nursery Group Ltd have purchased it.<\/p>\n

This is the pair\u2019s third setting, alongside one in Lochgelly and one in Glenrothes.<\/p>\n

Saqib and Amir Sadiq, new owners of Poppins Kindergarten, said:\u00a0\u201cWe are delighted to have acquired our third setting, and first one in Glasgow! <\/p>\n

“We have plans for substantial improvement by the end of this year and truly believe we will be transforming and modernising this setting to benchmark standards.<\/p>\n

“As existing operators, we will quickly be able to introduce our infrastructure. All three of our settings will collaborate to ensure we provide the best possible childcare service.\u201d<\/p>\n

“Saqib and Amir have acquired a fantastic business in an ideal location in Glasgow with an excellent local reputation, and I have no doubt they will be a perfect fit to carry on the legacy that Jennifer has built.\u201d<\/p>\n
