The Duchess of Sussex cradled her growing baby bump as she joined the Duke of Sussex in Birkenhead to celebrate the life of one of the town\u2019s most famous sons.<\/p>\n
When Harry and Meghan were chatting to a local mum in the town\u2019s Hamilton Square, they starting discussing the Duchess\u2019 pregnancy. Meghan told Carla Gandy she was “six months” pregnant which suggested a due date of around April.<\/p>\n
The royal couple were paying their respects to acclaimed First World War poet Wilfred Owen by viewing a sculpture in the town\u2019s Hamilton Square marking the 100th anniversary of his death.<\/p>\n
The bronze artwork by sculptor Jim Whelan has been named after Owen\u2019s poem Futility, and shows an exhausted solider sitting down with his head in his hands.<\/p>\n

The couple, who are expecting their first child in the spring, were on their first joint official engagement of the year, spending the day meeting Birkenhead residents, visiting an organisation supporting women in vulnerable situations and a centre for young people.<\/p>\n
Meghan, wearing a striking purple dress from Aritzia\u2019s Babaton collection and a vivid red coat by Sentaler, held on to her sizeable baby bump as she chatted to waiting dignitaries.<\/p>\n

Their visit was welcomed by Frank Field, Birkenhead\u2019s MP, who said he had invited the couple to his constituency.<\/p>\n
Mr Field said: “The two faces of Britain are here in Birkenhead, they are walking through the Alice in Wonderland door and visiting the other part of Britain \u2013 and they wanted to.”<\/p>\n

The duke and duchess also visited Tomorrow’s Women Wirral, which supports women in vulnerable circumstances.<\/p>\n
The organisation was originally established in 2011 to support women upon their release from prison.<\/p>\n
