The donation bins are accessible during the facilities\u2019 normal hours of operation.<\/p>\n<p>Residents can put a variety of items in the bins. If a dress is no longer your style, the wrong color, or no longer fits, don\u2019t let it take up valuable space in your closet \u2014 donate it! Too many pairs of black pants? Don\u2019t toss them in the trash, donate them. Anything that someone can wear, sleep in or dry off with, can be donated \u2014 clothing, footwear, linens. In addition, apparel accessories, luggage, and stuffed animals can also be donated.\u00a0 Even items that are no longer wearable can be recycled, so donate them. A complete list is available on the Solid Waste Division Reduce and Reuse\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pwcva.gov\/department\/solid-waste-management\/reduce-and-reuse-2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">webpage<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The donation program is a partnership with ReClothing, LLC dba Helpsy According to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.helpsy.co\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Helpsy\u00a0website<\/a>, 85 percent of clothes wind up in the trash. However, 95 percent of all clothing, shoes, and other textiles can be given a second life. Fifty percent are reusable, and 45 percent are recyclable. In fact, 10 percent of the material in landfills is textiles. That\u2019s 81 pounds per person, per year, according to Helpsy.
