With this update,&#13;<br \/>\nrecipients will see limited details of the sender, helping to protect their&#13;<br \/>\nprivacy while ensuring transactions are completed seamlessly,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Recipients will only see minimal information about the&#13;<br \/>\nsender, ensuring that transactions remain seamless while safeguarding privacy.<\/p>\n<p>The sender will receive a prompt to approve sharing their&#13;<br \/>\ninformation. If accepted, the recipient will get the sender\u2019s full name and&#13;<br \/>\nmobile number via SMS.<\/p>\n<p>If declined or if there is no response within two hours,&#13;<br \/>\nthe request will not go through.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the recipient needs the sender\u2019s full details, they can&#13;<br \/>\nrequest them within 24 hours of the transaction. The sender will receive&#13;<br \/>\na prompt asking whether they approve of sharing their full details. If accepted,&#13;<br \/>\nthe recipient will receive the sender\u2019s full name and mobile number via SMS. If&#13;<br \/>\ndeclined, or if there is no response within two hours, the request will not go&#13;<br \/>\nthrough.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ndegwa said the feature will first be rolled out by the end&#13;<br \/>\nof this month, with plans to extend it across the entire M-PESA ecosystem in&#13;<br \/>\nphases to ensure the platform remains safe and secure for all users.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe remain committed to building a safer, more trusted&#13;<br \/>\ndigital financial system that continues to meet all our customers\u2019 needs,\u201d he&#13;<br \/>\nadded.<\/p>\n<p>M-PESA has been at the forefront of digital financial&#13;<br \/>\nservices in Kenya, providing millions with convenient, secure ways to transfer&#13;<br \/>\nmoney, pay bills, and access financial services since its launch in 2007.<\/p>\n<p>The new privacy feature marks the latest effort to enhance&#13;<br \/>\nuser protection as the platform approaches two decades of operation.<\/p>\n<p>M-Pesa has reached 40 million monthly active users in Kenya, marking a major milestone as the service celebrates 19 years since its launch.<\/p>\n<p>What began as a simple person-to-person money transfer service has evolved into a comprehensive digital financial ecosystem embedded in the daily lives of millions of Kenyans.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement marking the anniversary, Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa said the platform\u2019s evolution reflects the company\u2019s broader mission to empower individuals and businesses through accessible digital financial tools.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur goal is to give Kenyans and Africa at large digital financial tools to empower them to be more prosperous.
