Last Friday saw the launch of the latest creation from Horsforth Brewery<\/a>; a tasty IPA in celebration of International Women\u2019s Day.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The beer is the result of a collaboration between the brewery and a selection of notable women from the Horsforth community and the brewing industry.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As reported in the Dispatch last month<\/a> the brew day brought together this group of talented women to produce the beer, named Fermentress, which reflects the personalities and skills of the women in its flavour and character.\u00a0<\/p>\n

And most of the brew team were able to pop in last Friday to be amongst the first to sample the 6.8% DDH IPA.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jenni Kerslake is the tap room manager at Horsforth Brewery and was excited to be pouring the first pints of this special beer.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe beer launch has been great today,\u201d she said. \u201cEverybody that\u2019s brewed the beer has been down, they\u2019ve brought their friends. So it\u2019s not just all about women\u2019s day, we\u2019re letting the men try it too!<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s gone down really well. It\u2019s obviously come out a little bit stronger than we\u2019d have liked but it\u2019s still got all the flavours that we were going for with the hops that we chose.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s gone really well. We\u2019re really happy with it. We\u2019re looking forward to next year already.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ann Jones, brew team member and owner of Cards or Die<\/a>, was on hand to try the beer.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s important to celebrate women working together. Women are really underrepresented in lots of areas, particularly in beer production and bars, and in what I do in board games women are massively underrepresented.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s really important for women to get together and celebrate and do something positive and productive as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kezia Roberts is part of the team that produces the Walk Of Art in Horsforth, and alongside friend and co-collaborator Claire Evans is in the process of forming a new charitable organisation<\/a> for the Horsforth community.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI like the fact that as women we could\u2019ve ended up with quite a low percentage beer, but we didn\u2019t. We threw everything at it. 6.8%! So if you\u2019re going to go for it you\u2019ve got to go hard haven\u2019t you!\u201d<\/p>\n

Horsforth Brewery tap room, on New Road Side in Horsforth, is open daily and hosts a number of regular weekly and monthly events. Tonight is the monthly \u201cBrewhaha\u201d comedy club, organised and hosted by Becky Heaviside, another member of the team for this brew. Tickets are five pounds and can be purchased via the website.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Easter weekend will see Horsforth Brewery host its latest beer festival, \u201cThe Beasts from the East\u201d, featuring specially selected East Coast IPAs and NEIPAs.\u00a0<\/p>\n
