While crews are still calculating the damage caused to both the station and the surrounding area, the clip appears to show the interior of the station as largely untouched.

However, an area closest to the wall next to the fire scene has been taped off. And images show a gap through the glass roof where the burned-down building used to sit.

Trains are only running through the lower level of the station, with the upper level remaining closed. Network Rail confirmed last night that trains would not resume this week, and it is not clear when normal service will return.

Route Director Ross Moran said: “We are grateful to Scottish Fire and Rescue teams who have been working tirelessly to contain the fire on the Union Corner site. I am pleased to advise passengers that we will be able to open Glasgow Central Low Level station from tomorrow morning (Wednesday).

“Unfortunately, further work is required to ensure the high level station is safe for trains to operate. Our priority is to make sure that we can reopen Glasgow Central as soon as it is safe to do so and we will continue to work with emergency services, the local council and our train operators to restore services.

“We want to reassure passengers that we are doing everything we can to open the high level station, but we must enable the emergency services and Glasgow City Council to complete their critical work to secure the Union Corner site and make it safe.”

Firefighters continued to dampen down hotspots at the scene of the fire on Tuesday. Fire crews used high reach appliances and ground monitors to assess and cool off areas of the four-storey structure.

More than 250 firefighters have attended the scene since the initial emergency call. As of 4.30pm on Tuesday, four fire appliances and one high reach vehicle remained at the scene. Crews were still working with structural engineers to assess the stability of the remaining building.

SFRS Deputy Assistant Chief Officer Ian McMeekin said: “This has been a significant and complex incident, and our crews have worked tirelessly at the scene since the initial call on Sunday afternoon. This includes limiting further fire damage to nearby buildings, including Glasgow Central train station, and to bring a large-scale fire under control.

“This incident has required significant levels of resource, and we will continue to remain on scene so as we move into a recovery phase alongside our multi-agency partners. We understand the disruption this fire has caused, and we are grateful for the patience shown by the public as we work to bring this incident to a safe conclusion, before the site is handed over to partner agencies.”

Check our LIVE updates on the fire here

Network Rail has shown the empty travel hub after the blaze ripped through the connected 175-year-old Union Corner…

[7826
748,31367,12264,918,4884,712,119809,760,16,15
0":"post-820309","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-glasgow","8":"tag-britain","9":"tag-city-centre","10":"tag-fires","11":"tag-glasgow","12":"tag-great-britain","13":"tag-scotland","14":"tag-scottish-fire-and-rescue","15":"tag-traffic-and-travel","16":"tag-uk","17":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
