Isaac Schmidt has become the forgotten man at Leeds United<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Switzerland international joined the Whites in the Championship back in the summer of 2024, but has hardly featured under Daniel Farke.<\/p>\n

He came in as a new full-back option, but featured just 14 times as promotion to the Premier League was secured as Championship champions.<\/p>\n

It wasn\u2019t a surprise when the 26-year-old was allowed to depart LS11, as it looked highly unlikely he would ever play a part in the top division.<\/p>\n

Schmidt departed for Werder Bremen<\/a> on loan, where things haven\u2019t exactly been perfect, and now MOT Leeds News<\/strong> assesses what we know about his contract situation.<\/p>\n

What is Isaac Schmidt\u2019s contract situation at Leeds United?<\/p>\n

The Swiss defender joined the Yorkshire club two years ago, but has never managed to break into the first team as a regular starter.<\/p>\n

That has made his move to sign a four-year deal at Elland Road all the more bizarre, having joined Leeds from St. Gallen.<\/p>\n

For a \u00a32.5million signing, the move hasn\u2019t paid off for all parties, and he\u2019s now at Werder Bremen, but his wages are still on the books at Leeds.<\/p>\n

Schmid is on a reported weekly salary in the region of \u00a39,900, which equates to a yearly wage of around \u00a3510,000.<\/p>\n

That is a lowly amount for a Premier League footballer in the modern age, something which he will likely be if he comes back to LS11.<\/p>\n

It looks increasingly unlikely that Werder Bremen will sign Schmidt<\/a> after his loan campaign in the Bundesliga.<\/p>\n

What has happened to Schmidt at Werder Bremen?<\/p>\n

There was little surprise when the Swiss defender moved on after such an underwhelming first campaign in English football.<\/p>\n

That has continued into this current season, with Werder Bremen sporting director Clemens Fritz unhappy with his lack of minutes.<\/p>\n

Schmidt has found himself down the pecking order due to the form of Felix Agu and Mitchell Weiser, something which has hampered his game time in Germany.<\/p>\n

That means his \u00a32.5million option to buy is unlikely to be activated by the River Islanders when the summer window opens.<\/p>\n

A report from DeichStube<\/a> suggests that the full-back is desperate to seal a deal, but a decision on his future is yet to be made, and a return to Leeds could be increasingly likely.<\/p>\n
