{"id":824453,"date":"2026-03-14T04:02:19","date_gmt":"2026-03-14T04:02:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/824453\/"},"modified":"2026-03-14T04:02:19","modified_gmt":"2026-03-14T04:02:19","slug":"im-just-getting-started-street-artists-assist-sheffield-with-regeneration-through-bright-new-pieces","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/824453\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cI\u2019m just getting started\u201d Street artists assist Sheffield with regeneration through bright new pieces"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sheffield City Centre has begun it\u2019s regeneration journey and local street artists are helping to support the transformation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Artist RUOK, who is based in the city, recently completed an impressive piece on the kiosk at the top of The Moor. <\/p>\n<p>The design is called \u2018Take Bold Steps\u2019 and took the artist just two days to complete.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>RUOK, pronounced \u2018are you okay\u2019, moved to Sheffield 11 years ago but started his graffiti journey around the age of eight.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The artist said \u201cIt was the coolest thing ever to see when I was eight, it was magic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He grew up on the small island of Tortola where graffiti wasn\u2019t a common hobby or sight.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"671\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/IMG_7205-1024x671.jpg\" alt=\"the BT Box on Cambridge Street, painted by RUOK to honour other artists\" class=\"wp-image-68965\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Sheffield has been a notorious playground for street and graffiti artists due to the plethora of abandoned warehouses and factories and more recently the council have embraced the benefits of street art, even commissioning pieces.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>RUOK said: \u201cIt\u2019s always been a part of Sheffield but it\u2019s so cool that the council are embracing it during the regeneration of the town.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some of the artist\u2019s pieces can be found at The Nursery Tavern, Cambridge Street, The Moor and Norfolk Row and yet he still says he feels he \u201cdoesn\u2019t have enough\u201d pieces.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/f193168f-58a0-4c24-9b19-aa02105877fd-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"&quot;Follow The Heart&quot; on Fargate and Norfolk Row by RUOK\" class=\"wp-image-68963\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>RUOK completed his \u2018Follow the Heart\u2019 piece on Fargate\/ Norfolk Row on Christmas Eve, the BT box on Cambridge Street was completed in early January and both the Nursery Tavern and Moor pieces were completed this month.<\/p>\n<p>Sheffield has previously celebrated murals and street art in the Lick of Paint festival in September 2025 which is set to return again later this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t Post Views: 82&#13;\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Sheffield City Centre has begun it\u2019s regeneration journey and local street artists are helping to support the transformation.\u00a0&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":824454,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":"","_share_on_mastodon":"0"},"categories":[8817],"tags":[748,393,62685,4884,22245,12147,1620,91174,16,15],"class_list":["post-824453","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-sheffield","tag-britain","tag-england","tag-graffiti","tag-great-britain","tag-murals","tag-regeneration","tag-sheffield","tag-south-yorkshire","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom"],"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@uk\/116225543249774114","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/824453","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=824453"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/824453\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/824454"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=824453"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=824453"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=824453"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
