Wales star Gareth Anscombe has become the latest player to swap the Premiership for the Top 14, with the fly-half swapping Gloucester for Bayonne next season.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Anscombe is the latest headline name to leave Kingsholm at the end of the season, following Christian Wade out the exit door.<\/p>\n

Gareth Anscombe to join Bayonne<\/p>\n

\u201cGloucester<\/a> Rugby can confirm that Gareth Anscombe will depart the Club to join Bayonne next season,\u201d the club said in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnscombe<\/a>, 33, joined the Cherry & Whites in the summer of 2024 and has gone on to make 14 appearances this season.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGloucester Rugby would like to thank Gareth for his time at the Club and when the time comes, he will leave with the best wishes for him and his family on their next adventure in France.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 33-year-old arrived in the West Country last summer and quickly became the heart-beat of their new-look attack. He has gone onto make 14 appearances at the time of writing.<\/p>\n

Alongside fellow half-back Tomos Williams, Anscombe made a return to the Wales Test side in Autumn Nations Series, and later featured in the Six Nations after being called in by interim head coach Matt Sherratt.<\/p>\n

Rumours of his exit had been swirling for some time, with Leicester Tigers suggested to be eyeing him up to replace Bulls-bound Handre Pollard at Mattioli Woods Welford Road, as well as suitors in France.<\/p>\n

He joins Bayonne as a replacement for the outgoing\u00a0Camille Lopez.<\/p>\n
