A new biography about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex has been condemned as “deranged conspiracy and melodrama” by the couple, and has left Prince Harry reportedly “incandescent” with fury<\/p>\n

Prince Harry<\/a> is reportedly “incandescent” with fury after reports that Queen Camilla<\/a> claimed he was “brainwashed” by Meghan Markle<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In a “swift and blistering” response rarely seen from the Sussex camp, a spokesperson has slammed Tom Bower’s new book as a “deranged conspiracy.”<\/p>\n

The suggestion that Meghan is merely “bling” to Harry’s Invictus veterans has reportedly left him in a state of “visceral” rage, and seems to put any hope of a peace treaty between the Royal Family<\/a> to bed.<\/p>\n

Writing for the Mirror<\/a>, Jennie Bond says the explosive new book, which is about the Royal Family<\/a> but focuses on the Sussexes, has clearly hit a raw nerve.<\/p>\n

She told the Mirror: “Whatever the truth behind Tom Bower\u2019s explosive account of the continuing tensions between the Sussexes and the Windsor household, one thing is for sure: his words have hit a very raw nerve.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s rare these days to get any kind of response from Harry and Meghan, they prefer instead to ignore the noise and the gossip. But this time the pushback has been both swift and blistering. Their spokesperson accused Bower of “deranged conspiracy and melodrama\u201c.<\/p>\n

“The first extracts from the book target Harry\u2018s two great passions: his wife and the Invictus games. The suggestion that Meghan wanted to use the games as her \u201cglobal stage\u201d and that she was viewed as “bling\u201d and a distraction from the injured veterans will have left Harry incandescent. Nor will he have taken kindly to the allegation that Camilla told a friend that Meghan had “brainwashed\u201d him.<\/p>\n

“For Harry, any attack on his wife is treason and provokes a visceral response: he will defend her to the end of the earth. And there\u2019s nothing wrong with that. The trouble is that his reignited fury and this new spotlight on all that has gone wrong over the past few years has the potential to open up fresh wounds.<\/p>\n

“There had been talk of a public show of reconciliation at next year\u2018s Invictus Games in Birmingham, with the King possibly sharing a stage with his younger son. It might only have been a pipe dream, but this book could make it even more unlikely.”<\/p>\n

The book – which is being serialised in The Times<\/a> – includes a claim that Queen Camilla<\/a> delivered a scathing verdict on Meghan Markle<\/a>, declaring that the American actress had “brainwashed” Prince Harry<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to Bower’s account, William and Kate believed Meghan “lamented Harry’s unlikely chances of one day being king, just as she regretted the possibility that she would never be the queen”.<\/p>\n

“Meghan had become a divisive agent,” Bower writes. “To please her, Harry was ignoring his old friends. He even changed his telephone number without telling his family.<\/p>\n

“The jovial lad about town became possessed by seeking revenge. “Increasingly, his character mirrored Meghan’s. Emotionally, he veered towards extremes. Simple dislikes became passionate hatred.<\/p>\n

A spokesman for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said yesterday: “Those interested in facts will look elsewhere; those seeking deranged conspiracy and melodrama know exactly where to find [Bower].”<\/p>\n

The book also alleges that former Invictus Foundation executives were concerned that the Games had become “the Harry and Meghan show,” and that the Duchess was a distraction, labelling her “bling, not rehabilitation.”<\/p>\n

In the book, Mr Bower makes some explosive claims about how Meghan allegedly wanted to use Prince Harry’s Invictus Games platform as a “global stage for genuine admiration and cheering fans”.<\/p>\n

He writes: “Meghan needed a global stage for genuine admiration and cheering fans. To her good fortune, Harry agreed that she could star at the Invictus Games, which he was about to open in Canada. Just before flying up to Vancouver in a private jet, she alerted her Instagram<\/a> followers.”<\/p>\n

He claims Harry and Meghan “insisted” on being addressed as “Ma’am and Sir”, the organisers thought of them as being “pushy,” with “exorbitant” expenses for security, accommodation and a private jet.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the Invictus Games Foundation stated: “It is disappointing to see The Times give prominence to commentary that appears driven by a long-established agenda rather than a genuine understanding of the Invictus Games and the community it supports.<\/p>\n

“The Foundation exists to support the recovery and rehabilitation of wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans from around the world<\/a>. Attempts to question the legitimacy of competitors or diminish the experiences of those living with both physical injuries and invisible wounds such as PTSD are deeply disrespectful to the men and women the Games were created for,” reports the Express<\/a>.<\/p>\n
