Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland\u2019s<\/a> Terrorism Investigation Unit located two suspected firearms during searches conducted in the Currynierin and Creggan areas of Derry<\/a>.<\/p>\n

PSNI<\/a> said the searches were carried out earlier today, on Saturday March 14, as part of an ongoing investigation into dissident Republican criminality.<\/p>\n

Derry City and Strabane Chief Inspector Craig added: “Firearms are extremely dangerous and present a serious risk. Removing them from communities will remain a priority.<\/p>\n

“I want to thank the local community for their patience while officers conducted these searches.”<\/p>\n

A number of items were seized for further examination, including the two suspected firearms, the force stated that enquiries are on going.<\/p>\n
