The UK\u2019s devotion to pub culture borders on spiritual. Boozers aren\u2019t just places to drink, they\u2019re community hubs, documents of local history \u2013 naming a \u2018best\u2019 region in Britains for pubs, therefore, is very controversial business.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But that hasn\u2019t stopped\u00a0consumer organisation\u00a0Which?<\/a>, which recently revealed the UK county that it reckons has the greatest pubs in the UK.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to Which?, Derbyshire\u00a0<\/strong>is the country\u2019s top place for boozers. The county \u2013 which contains much of the Peak District \u2013 received such high praise due to the surprisingly high density of\u00a0watering holes that are scattered across its\u00a0picture-perfect\u00a0villages and awe-inspiring hiking routes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Regular trekkers in the Peaks\u00a0won\u2019t be too surprised by Which?\u2019s revelation. Stumbling upon a centuries-old inn after\u00a0a day traversing peaks and moors is part of the experience of the national park; the promise of a proper pub at the end of a trail makes the\u00a0Peaks all the more enticing.<\/p>\n

Writing for Which? Travel Magazine\u2019s March\/April issue,\u00a0Oliver Smith said:\u00a0\u2018Here, you can find every species of public house, from village pubs to gastro pubs to ancient coaching inns.\u2019<\/p>\n

He shouted out the Chatsworth Estate for its variety of pubs like the Beeley Inn, which has hosted\u00a0the likes of Charles Dickens and King Edward VII, and the sky-high Barrel Inn in Bretton for its \u2018panoramic views of the Dales\u2019 and \u2018resolutely old school\u2019 interior.<\/p>\n
