Keith Hackett believes that Gabriel Gudmundsson was unfortunate to get sent off for Leeds United against Crystal Palace.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The first half of the clash at Selhurst Park certainly sparked plenty of controversy, with Gudmundsson\u2019s sending off the highlight.<\/p>\n

Having been booked earlier in the half for a foul on Brennan Johnson, and rightfully so, the Swede was shown a second yellow for a foul on the halfway line.<\/p>\n

Thomas Bramall initially forgot that he had booked the left-back before showing him his second yellow, with Hackett disagreeing with the decision.<\/p>\n

Leeds went on to secure a point against Crystal Palace<\/a>, but the dismissal of Gudmundsson will leave a sour taste in their mouth.<\/p>\n

Gudmundsson\u2019s first yellow was warranted, given the fact that Johnson had the ball beyond the Swede before clearly being impeded.<\/p>\n

However, the second yellow received by Gudmundsson<\/a> was rather questionable, to say the least.<\/p>\n

It was a late tackle at worst, but Bramall wasted no time in brandishing a yellow card, before showing a second around a minute later after realising his error.<\/p>\n

And after reviewing the footage, Hackett believes it was the wrong call.<\/p>\n

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News<\/strong>, he said: \u201cI can\u2019t support Thomas Bramall\u2019s decision to give Gudmundsson a second yellow card. This is not a reckless challenge.\u201d<\/p>\n

Can Leeds appeal Gudmundsson ban?<\/p>\n

After his dismissal, it means that Gudmundsson will miss Leeds\u2019 next Premier League encounter, which is their Elland Road clash with Brentford next weekend.<\/p>\n

However, as harsh as the suspension may seem, Leeds will not be able to appeal it, given the fact that it was a second yellow dismissal, as opposed to a straight red card.<\/p>\n

As for how the Whites will deal with his absence, it\u2019s likely that Jayden Bogle will return to the starting 11, with James Justin shifted back over to the left of a back five.<\/p>\n
