Train services between Swindon and Bristol have returned to schedule following an incident in which a person was reportedly struck by a train in Wiltshire.<\/p>\n
The incident occurred between 2pm and 2.30pm on Saturday, March 14 near Royal Wootton Bassett.<\/p>\n
Disruption to railway services between Swindon and Bristol Temple Meads was seen immediately, with a spokesperson for GWR issuing an advisory: “A person has been struck by a train, leading to all lines being blocked. It is necessary to bring all trains in the affected area to an immediate stop.”<\/p>\n
The disruption persisted for hours, with numerous trains cancelled across the afternoon and services affected into the evening. As of Sunday morning (March 15), a normal service between the stations had resumed.<\/p>\n
Following the incident road closure was put in place on the A3102 for hours while 999 crews were on the scene, with vehicles including a Tesco delivery lorry stuck on one side of the closure.<\/p>\n
