Doctor Who star David Tennant will be returning to the beloved sci-fi franchise<\/a> for a brand-new adventure, which has been likened to a “rollercoaster ride”; but which iteration of the Time Lord will he be portraying?<\/p>\n

The actor will reprise his role as the Tenth Doctor, the part he originally played between 2005 and 2010, in Doctor Who \u2013 The Tenth Doctor Adventures, a new 15-part audio drama from Big Finish Productions.<\/p>\n

The first 12 episodes, which are all an hour in duration, will be released bimonthly beginning in the summer of 2027. The remaining three instalments will come as part of a boxset, with a release date to be confirmed. <\/p>\n

“Big Finish makes it dangerously easy \u2013 you turn up, have a lovely time, and suddenly you’ve saved the universe again,” said Tennant, who previously reprised his role on-screen in 2013, in a statement. <\/p>\n

“We’re always on the look-out for David to return,” said Nicholas Briggs, Creative Director at Big Finish. “He is such a busy, in-demand actor, sometimes it\u2019s just not possible for him to find the time to come to the studio.<\/p>\n

“But we\u2019re always ready and waiting with new stories to tell, and now he\u2019s back and we\u2019re loving every minute of it. Get ready for a rollercoaster ride during these new adventures. They\u2019re fast, funny, scary audio dramas with surprises from the very first episode.”<\/p>\n

There are currently no story details for the audio drama, though the press release states that the Tenth Doctor will team up with “some of his other incarnations” at some point in their galaxy-spanning journey.<\/p>\n

The series can be pre-ordered, with various bundles – ranging from three to 12 episodes – being available on Big Finish’s website<\/a>. Individual parts are priced at \u00a39.99, but the complete package works out a bit cheaper overall.<\/p>\n

Of course, Tennant returned to the sci-fi drama<\/a> in a new role of sorts in 2023, as he was surprisingly revealed to be the Fourteenth Doctor following Jodie Whittaker’s exit. Ncuti Gatwa followed him, though it’s unclear who will succeed him.<\/p>\n

It hasn’t stopped fans of the series from predicting that Tennant could once again make a comeback, with many suggesting that he could reunite with Billie Piper<\/a> for the upcoming Christmas Special later this year.<\/p>\n
