But I&#8217;m getting through it. The donations gave me a huge boost. There have been some amazing primary schools coming out to line the streets.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;I&#8217;m just so determined now, even though my legs are screaming at me.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The state of Birmingham&#8217;s roads has become a political football ahead of May&#8217;s all-out local elections.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\"><a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/all-about\/conservative-party\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Tories<\/a> on the city council condemned the Labour-run authority for <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/news\/midlands-news\/birminghams-pothole-problem-council-resurfaces-33423806\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">resurfacing less than a mile of road<\/a> in the last full financial year \u2013 2024\/2025. He said: \u201cDue to conversations with the government around the future of PFI funding, a decision was made to reduce budgets for all non-essential highways maintenance for the financial year 2024\/25.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cSince then, around \u00a313million has been invested in the 2025\/26 financial year to resurface roads.
