{"id":83155,"date":"2025-05-07T23:59:09","date_gmt":"2025-05-07T23:59:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/83155\/"},"modified":"2025-05-07T23:59:09","modified_gmt":"2025-05-07T23:59:09","slug":"ftc-loses-appeal-to-stop-microsofts-activision-blizzard-deal-that-already-happened","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/83155\/","title":{"rendered":"FTC loses appeal to stop Microsoft\u2019s Activision Blizzard deal that already happened"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has lost its appeal of a ruling in its case against Microsoft\u2019s $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">In 2023, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2023\/6\/12\/23758194\/ftc-microsoft-activision-blizzard-complaint-block-acquisition-call-of-duty\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FTC requested<\/a> a preliminary injunction to prevent the companies from finalizing the deal while its legal challenge to the acquisition <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2022\/12\/8\/23498224\/ftc-microsoft-activision-blizzard-legal-challenge-sues-block\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">from 2022<\/a> was in progress.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">\u201cWith control of Activision\u2019s content, Microsoft would have the ability and increased incentive to withhold or degrade Activision\u2019s content in ways that substantially lessen competition \u2013 including competition on product quality, price, and innovation,\u201d the FTC said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/23843966-ftc-vs-microsoft-activision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in its complaint<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Today, an appeals court panel affirmed that denial, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/legal\/microsoft-wins-ftc-appeal-challenging-69-bln-activision-blizzard-deal-2025-05-07\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">as reported by Reuters<\/a>.
