The Burrell Collection in Pollok Country Park was hailed as one of the best museums in the UKCredit: John Kirkby 2<\/p>\n The Thinker by Auguste Rodin in the Burrell Collection<\/p>\n It was named alongside The Ashmolean Museum in Oxford<\/a> and The Beatles<\/a> Story in Liverpool<\/a> and was previously crowned Scotland’s Best Visitor Attraction.<\/a><\/p>\n The Burrell Collection in Pollok Country Park was hailed as one of the best museums outside of London<\/a> by attraction website Blooloop.<\/p>\n The vast collection was acquired by Sir William Burrell, a wealthy shipping merchant, and his wife Lady Constance Burrell. <\/p>\n The couple later gifted the Collection to the City of Glasgow<\/a> in 1944.<\/p>\n READ MORE ON THE SCOTTISH SUN<\/p>\n After a \u00a368.2 million refit over a period of six years, it reopened in 2022. <\/p>\n Experts at Blooloop said: “The\u00a0Burrell Collection\u00a0consists of nearly 9000 artefacts and was a gift to the city of Glasgow in 1944 from\u00a0Sir William Burrell\u00a0and his wife\u00a0Lady Constance.<\/p>\n “The collection spans 50 countries and 6000 years of history, from 4000 BC to the turn of the 20th century.<\/p>\n “Objects include medieval art, furniture,\u00a0Islamic art and artefacts from ancient Egypt<\/a> and China<\/a>, as well as impressionist\u00a0works by\u00a0Degas\u00a0and\u00a0C\u00e9zanne, modern sculpture and more.<\/p>\n “The museum is located in an award-winning modernist building in Pollok Country Park.<\/p>\n Inside the World’s Largest Museum: Giza Museum! <\/p>\n “In 2022, it reopened to the public following a six-year, \u00a368 million refurbishment project, cementing its position as one of the UK\u2019s best museums outside London.<\/p>\n “This work increased the size of the museum by 35%.
