2<\/p>\n A Tiffany lamp once owned by Sir Elton John has been snapped up for \u00a322,320Credit: Mc Tear’s 2<\/p>\n It was auctioned as part of a historic Sotheby’s sale of the music icon’s possessions in 1988Credit: Getty<\/p>\n It bears the prestigious mark of Tiffany Studios New York<\/a> and boasts a kaleidoscope of leaded glass in pinks, blues, greens and milky white.<\/p>\n The spherical bronze base is described by experts at the auction<\/a> house<\/a> as ‘rare’ and is adorned with overlapping leaves.<\/p>\n The former owner’s family<\/a> acquired the lamp at the landmark 1988 Sotheby\u2019s auction that saw a collection of the Rocket Man singer’s possessions sold and it became a treasured centrepiece in their home.<\/p>\n It was acquired by Glasgow<\/a> auction house McTears and put under the hammer as part of their 19th & 20th Century Design – Titans & Classics sale and sold to a telephone bidder.<\/p>\n READ MORE ON THE SCOTTISH SUN<\/p>\n Experts estimated it would go for between \u00a320,000 and \u00a330,000.<\/p>\n A copy of the original sale catalogue will accompany the Tiffany lamp as it moves to the lucky bidder.<\/p>\n McTear\u2019s director Magda Ketterer said: “The lamp is an extraordinary piece of decorative art, but its connection to one of the world\u2019s most celebrated performers gives it a rare cultural cachet.<\/p>\n “Whether you’re a collector, a design enthusiast, or an Elton John<\/a> fan, this is a once-in-a-generation opportunity.”<\/p>\n We previously told how pop legend Elton \u00a0lost vision in his right eye in July after contracting an infection on holiday in the\u00a0South of France<\/a>, and at the time admitted his left eye is \u201cnot the greatest.”<\/p>\n The ailing star, 78, has since revealed the “distressing” impact of his battle with blindness as he admitted he “can’t read” or see his kids play.<\/p>\n Elton John and unlikely pal voted top duo by fans after he ends decades-long feud with Madonna<\/p>\n![\"Table](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/NINTCHDBPICT000990793309.jpg\")
