It is competing against two other lists from the more mainstream right, which have not merged to block it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Yet alliances aren&#8217;t the only factor that can shift second-round results. Seeing the RN out in front has historically mobilised voters who oppose them \u2013 including people who didn&#8217;t take part in the first round.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">That effect could be decisive in districts where the party has only a marginal lead, such as the city of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rfi.fr\/en\/tag\/n\u00eemes\/\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:N\u00eemes;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;N\u00eemes&quot;}\">N\u00eemes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Hard-left dilemma<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Where once the far right was viewed as the ultimate threat, these elections have seen the hard left emerge as the faction to be stopped at any cost.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">One <a href=\"https:\/\/elabe.fr\/france-insoumise-municipales\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:survey;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;survey&quot;}\" class=\"link \">survey<\/a> released at the end of February found 63 percent of voters polled said they would try to keep France Unbowed out of power by voting for its rivals in the second round, compared to 45 percent who said they would seek to block the National Rally.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">That sentiment has produced some unlikely unions.
